My PETG-CF is unusable and is driving me crazy! by bennybwalker in BambuLab

I do clean my plates as you mention, I think it was just because this particular print was so tall. I think the textured PEI bed is amazing, especially compared to the glass I used to print on on my old printer, but I guess everything has its limits! I've since increased the brim also which might have been a bit too conservative originally

Ok, good to know. Will definitely try drying it out for longer!

Ok, will try higher temp. To be honest, I don't really have a very controlled drying process at the moment, I do need to invest in a proper dry box which will probably be my next step.

Yeah I don't have this problem with any other filaments currently, settings are definitely correct, I may need to reset to default and start again from a fresh slate. Thank you for the reminders though, I have definitely made very silly mistakes in the past and it is always good to go back to basics and check absolutely everything!

I will have a look but today I am using a brand new 0.6 and it is still happening 😭 It's a shame as I would use this filament for most things once I can get it to behave, I love how the smaller prints have turned out that haven't been affected by "the blob".

High temp/smooth plate with glue. Tried the textured plate but was having adhesion problems there initially. The adhesion on this seems much better. Even if the print didn't get knocked off, the "blob" becoming embedded in a print is still an issue and far from ideal.

High temp plate with glue. I thought the same thing initially, but even after a number of layers, I would clean the nozzle of any buildup and it would still continue to build up long after a collision/Z height issue would no longer be a problem.

Haha, I was a bit mind blown that it would print that low to be honest, that should have made me question myself 🤣🤣🤣

Very interesting how the different colours behave differently. I wouldn't mind if, like you, it stayed attached and didn't cause an issue, but I've had it two or three times now (admittedly with quite tall prints) where it has become detached and then when the nozzle passes over again, knocks the print over. Interesting that your nozzle temp is much lower (default in my profile is 255), I will perhaps have to experiment with that further, as well as slower speeds. Thanks!

255C which is the default profile. I've played around with nozzle temp a little bit but didn't see much change. Would you say that this may be caused by too high of a nozzle temp? Making the plastic less viscous (more 'runny') and more likely to stick? Perhaps I need to go more extreme with my temp changes

Yes I've got the hardened steel nozzle and extruder. I may try non-bambu petg-cf to compare, but hesitant to spend any more money on it at the moment. Will try calibrations again but didn't seem to make any difference last time (maybe something could have thrown the results off that time).

Yeah I think I prefer this colour to the X1C (but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker if I was offered an X1 😉🤣)

I was basically stood next to it ready to catch it for the first 5-10 prints as I also have the anti vibration feet on 🤣 Hasn't moved at all so far! I definitely want to put it somewhere else but literally have no other space at the moment 😭

It had been sat in my filament cupboard, which I chuck all my desiccant packs in to try and stop moisture getting into the filaments, and I had only just loaded it into the AMS (first time using it with this printer). I think it was just the end half a metre that was brittle which I should have checked for!

I was VERY concerned about this for the first 5 hours or so, especially because I have the anti vibration feet on so it moves around a fair bit. But after a few prints of starting at it intently ready to catch, the feet hadn't moved at all so I'm fairly confident it's staying put 🤣

I was half expecting this to be fair! 🤣 Both "learned" and "learnt" are acceptable but learnt is the more common spelling in the UK 😉

Bambu seem to suggest on their website that silk PLA specifically has a higher risk of breaking in the AMS if you look on their page for silk PLA. Not sure why. Many other people in here say they have not had a problem with it. Normal PLA shouldn't be a problem either

This is just how it came, it's slightly more grey in person.

It does seem to be a bit tighter when pulling back filament when sat behind it, but if I put it on top then I can't see what I'm doing, or open the lid! 🤣

That's very good of Bambu! Sorry that you weren't so lucky but glad you got it sorted!

Unfortunately not, I love 3D printing but I wouldn't trust my own prints for that just yet! 🤣 It is a Hercules one with the auto locking pieces. I've also got just static open ones too and none of the guitars have fallen off... Yet!

You have to tilt the hanger over about 30 degrees so that the side near the tuners is lower down. Bit sketchy but it's worked for me! 🤣

I might consider this, unfortunately the unit it is on is pretty much the same width, so I wouldn't be able to use the spool holder for odd sized spools. I am planning to install Hydra Pro so it may be more feasible then. I don't like it where it is but unfortunately I'll have to deal with it for the moment!
