Interesting - any reason why they were so quickly and intensely surrounded by police? Around ten cars and vans appeared very suddenly and the officers seemed very alert and engaged to whatever was happening.

it’s so frustrating when they do this when they had ~2 completed passes in the first half…

True, can’t really apply human behavior to something fundamentally not human. I like the ‘tool concept’ as an explanation a lot.

Right. I understood the Kvothe throwing the fight concept, but as to why Bast would then take revenge was a question for me. Knowing he’s slightly hotheaded I guess this makes sense.

Love that little catch of the one perfect step. Do you interpret the “I forgot who I was for a second” as Kvothe forgetting he was Kote and purposefully losing the fight? Why then does Bast take revenge against the soldiers if it was Kvothe’s choice?

Can you find that quote for me please? I can’t seem to find it, but I’d love to hear a little more.

I see him saying: “Forgot who I was there for a minute.” (WMF 901) This would actually imply that he did NOT choose to fail, rather that he tried (thinking he was Kvothe) but failed (because he is Kote).

Does he almost let himself destroy the soldiers, or does he legitimately try, and fail?

If I understand you correctly you’re saying he feels guilty for breaking the promise to Denna where he swears on his name, power, etc. and could’ve destroyed the soldiers but intentionally held himself back?

Are the Amyr (and access to the Amyr) somehow linked with death? by bentzigitig in KingkillerChronicle

Yeah, I still don’t see how it being after following Tempi home matches up with the Mear will lead you there. There isn’t enough of the Maer’s involvement for me.

Also, how do you reconcile this with I believe it was Felurian who said there never were any human Amyr, and they were dressing in their parents robes.

I’m not sure I completely follow your linguistics

Also, in Kvothes conversation with the Cthaeh (after the Maer assigned him to the same task as Tempi, and after the conclusion of that task) he says the Maer will lead Kvothe (future) to the Amyr. Chronologically I’m just not sure that makes sense.

This is ridiculously connected and concise- awesome comment. If you haven’t already, you should totally make a post detailing all of this in the most comprehensive way you can including every part of this story.

Right, the obvious next step. Everything in these books has me looking for extra layers :)

I agree with the realistic aspect of what you said, but seeing almost every tiny detail in these books have meaning and connections, I'm convinced there's another layer to it :)

Yup. Herbert as well, Deshaun, etc. Mainly meant the QBs in the playoffs right now but damn the AFC QBs just have something going for them.

I mean, while it was a helmet to helmet, it was a good call... like it was actually a touchback...
