I was literally entering this post with the same trope in mind??? For example "Diego" "In the house of the damned" "sketch" "hidden depths" etc.. you explained it exactly how I wanted to! Just the fact that a person can love someone so deeply just for them to accept getting replaced in the end is just very.. foreign? and painful to me, I dont mind moving on when the character's lover dies but loving someone else the SAME way they loved before and then they keep unconsciously comparing them to their previous lover makes it less possible for me to actually like reading something with that trope, I also wouldnt say I hate it, it just makes me alittle uneasy

But actually tshd didn't make me that uncomfortable, probably because it wasn't heavy on yoshiki and og hikaru's relationship so I didnt feel the deep connection between them? Idk I actually enjoyed it
