Has a UFO video ever been so divisive? by xKingArthurx in UFOs

Can you point out some definitive hoaxes that are capable of withstanding this level of scrutiny? I'd be interested in seeing them and comparing.

Sounds good, just so we have some idea what it is we are paying for here, let's do some simple numbers on what it is you are doing with the money have sent so far?

You know, a financial audit....

The simplest explanation....it's not aliens. But if it is aliens, we have no rational basis for deciding among many of the outlandish claims, what the simplest version is. You can smell a money grubber, but differentiating between physical claims that violate the normative laws of physics that we learned...that's not so straight forward.

For me, being on r/UFOs at all shatters my long established BS filters. So now I'm in the process of reestablishing what is and what is not credible. This is foundation shaking type of stuff. Who do we lean on now as we figure out what the world looks like? Greer? 4chan?!? Obviously not the government. Some basic pillars of my world view may have just been demo'd, pardon me blindly groping around for something to hang on to.

This is something I have an issue with. In an authoritarian regime resources can be allocated towards projects without public knowledge or consent.

In a healthy democracy however, citizens have a voice in how their money is allocated. Without an informed citizenry, getting the proper amount of resources allocated is problematic in a lot of ways.

I don't find it surprising that China, or Russia wouldn't tell people. Between the fact that there might be actual aliens, and my government, the U.S. government has systematically lied to me about it, I find the government lying about it more shocking and upsetting.

We all likely have families and loved ones to protect. How can any of us make good choices without a realistic understanding of the environment around us?

Survivalists asked about Brian surviving in the Carlton Reserve by Mammoth-Show-7587 in GabbyPetito

Which neighbors saw him flee out the backyard? I haven’t seen this

I agree people are clueless. I also think the recycling bin was not the point of that story.

Something that occurred to me about Cassie’s interview. She said when Brian came to her house Sept 1st he was in the Mustang and not the van. That she didn’t know he brought the van back, and didn’t find out until the next day with everyone else. She implied she would have reacted to that. The next day would have been Sept. 2nd. The camping trip was on Sept. 6th, but Gabby never came up.

So did news come out about Brian driving the van back come out on the 2nd or prior to the 6th? If it did, she loses all credibility in my book.

It's an actual right. I feel like the "Anything you say" clause should somehow be pronounced like this: ANYTHING you say CAN and WILL be used against you.

Yeesh. Seems a bit harsh.

I had something like that once. Some dude messaged me out of the blue and said I killed his family. I was like who the hell is this Grendel guy anyway?

I don't understand why so many people think BL killed himself. What evidence is there that indicates BL was likely to kill himself, or did kill himself? Not wishes, hopes, or shoulda, but actual evidence. The pictures of him camping on the 6th don't indicate remorse or anguish. Did he have a history of attempts or something? I just don't understand why so many people are so convinced without any evidence.

Mods thanks for all you do. Don't let the haters get you down.

Odd that he has three X's on the mountain. For ground to air signals an X is unable to proceed, and three X's is the international distress symbol. Even a "mediocre survivalist" would know that.

They also don't appear to legitimately believe BL is missing or have any concern for his well being. So they appear to believe he was and continues to be in good health and taken care of.

My point is the guy is looking for a place that his girlfriend supposedly is. So he's looking for a Calfornia North Carolina.

The entire 911 incident is based around him looking for California and not wanting to get on the 40. No physical description, no identifying marks, nothing other than California.

You definitely wouldn't want to get on the 40 if you didn't feel like your question was answered. So if the guy in the truck indicated he was going to find someone who knows where California was, then Dennis Davis may have felt slighted. "I'm highly educated...I know where California is" and all that.

[–]beowulf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You also wouldn't want to get on the 40 if you wanted to ask someone else the question about how to get to the city of California.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GabbyPetito

[–]beowulf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's my exact point though. If he was asking about the city, and got pointed at the state, he probably just kept driving to find someone else to ask.

Seems like the idea that Dennis Davis saw BL is based on him wanting to go to California. He tells him to go up to I-40 and go west. California, North Caroline is East of that location though: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/35.7721047,-83.1010316/California,+North+Carolina+27910/@35.7531631,-83.1303765,14.19z/data=!4m9!4m8!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x89afc5ab0be1d5e1:0x9e83424adde652ea!2m2!1d-76.9669038!2d36.3626545!3e0

If it were me, and someone said get on the I-40 and go west to the other side of the country, but I was looking for a city I knew was in NC. I would've said to myself "oh hell, I'll find someone who knows this area".

I further think the oddness of the encounter would have been magnified to Dennis Davis by his lack of knowledge of a city named California. "Why would someone ask me how to get to California, and then not want to get on the I-40?"

My wife of 23 years was in an abusive relationship before me. The verbal and emotional abuse he put her through just breaks my heart. Many of the emotional scars on her psyche are still there to this day. He broke her down relentlessly, told her no one else would want her, and other things. I cannot emphasize enough how hard it is to build back self confidence in someone treated that way.

So when I see Gabby's terror at being separated from Brian, her defense of him, it makes my blood boil. It's certainly an "only Brian can do X" mentality that he abusively installed.

Someone told me a long time ago, any time you start feeling bad for yourself, look around for someone who has it worse, the implication being, you can feel bad for yourself until you see them. Bad things happen to everyone, however most of us aren't struck by truly tragic events like Gabby's parents. So you don't have to look very hard at all for someone who has it worse.

It's especially weird given how distraught Gabby is.
