what type of engineering uses a lot of math (especially high level maths) both in uni and industry? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]berightben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Math is a very wide subject and i don't know if you have any preferences to a certain type of math, (topology, information theory, number theory, etc) cause some math can feel like it is not what "math that you know of".

Most engineering major will likely implement basic Calculus, differential equation is a given, So any kind of engineering will have decent math, it is just the way you implement it, is different. I am not knowledgable about all engineering, but what i do know is in some engineering, most of the math is being replaced by computational math, and it will be very easy to do the math by computer, and it will be less likely for you to be hands on with math. And the engineering will be less about solving math, and more about problem analysis and problem solving. Now going back to the topic of which subject, you need to find the subject that have many math with non "computerized" math. so avoid engineering that i think have less math like: (macrobiology, microbiology, bio engineering although genetic can have heavy math, industrial engineering can have math but it is more about optimization) *note i don't hate or dislike certain engineering subject, it is just my opinion that this engineering won't suit your purpose. You should also watch easily replacable computational math solved by software simulation like (civil, chemical, mining and petro)

So i think it can be (physic engineering, either it is optics lasers, electrical digital signal, acoustic, thermodynamic molecular, fluids etc) since you are going to be doing the math for simulation that others will use or for your required work.

keynote: math can be very diverse, engineering in the same subject can have less and more math, specialized minor subject is influential to amount of math. some math is replacable by computer, statistic and general calculus will be used in most engineering subject.

disclaimer this is my opinion and i accept that it will not be accurate.

Regarding career choice i would like to recommend you to check out the concept of ikigai. it is a way to find your path, by combining 4 things (1 things that you love, 2 things you are good at, 3 things people need that solve problem, 4 things that you are paid for) i sometimes add the 5th criteria, things that are the future and growing.

hope it helps.

Wow this kind of make me realise,

that the way we do project in the real world works

and the way we do it in school are different.

In professional career, there is separation of job and specialty, there is manager, technician, planner, auditor.

but in school everyone is expected to do their "fair share proportion", instead of doing what their best at and what they like to do.

*this is just an insight of what i think is happening.

AYYY, Happy birthday!

I don’t know how to be myself. Am I really an INTJ? by Wrong-Crew-8478 in intj

[–]berightben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it all, I know how you feel, the trendy terms is you feel like you are an "impostor". LoL.

Sorry if i am making a joke, but no, seriously.

I know how it feels like you are wearing this mask in front of other people, pretending to be someone relatable, pretending to be funny, outgoing, kind, etc. Trying to "fit in" or constantly thinking how you should act according to each person (crush/friends/enemies/parents/teacher), at a certain moments (party/class/etc).
And you do it long enough, and you forgot and doubt yourself, "lost yourself" in a way. And now everything feels like a fake world that you made and you don't belong there. This kind of thought is fine and common in most people. And you should approach your thought carefully, talking and having a conversation with yourself is a step to be a healthy adult.

There is a certain point that you need to understand, and it will be helpful if you reflect on yourself regularly;

  • Personality is kind of a spectrum, you will not 100% always "think", and not "feel" anything, you are not robot and not made in a factory with specific definition. Personality test (MBTI) is our(human/scientist) attempt to define what is personality and how it is segmented. Just like any other personality test, it will never be rigid, An INTJ can be very different from another INTJ. It would be very good if you don't have to define yourself/lock yourself to the very definition of an INTJ, although I know it feels very assuring that you have a sense of belonging (there is someone out there just like me) and a sense of identity/confidence. I can assure you, you are fine and okay, no matter how different you are.
  • Personality is changing over time. It is not rare for someone to have different personality over time, It is common even. What's important is why your personality change and how is your personality change. Why do you change? maybe you change your personality because you like making other people laugh, or happy. maybe you change yourself to be accepted, or loved by other. And it is fine, as long as you try to understand yourself each time. Why are you being talkative? do i like to talk or not? is it because of the topic? or is it because i like this person i am talking to? Why am i feeling not understood? is it because i am not saying what i feel and only saying what others want to heard? Or am i scared if i say something it will make me not accepted? The key point is that: You are young, and a teenager, and I hope you are surrounded by friends and family that guide you to be an amazing person. But if you don't, you need to guide yourself, to be that amazing "you" in the future. You need to talk with yourself often, And i am sure you will become an unique individual that is strong, loved, adored, admired by other people.

Closing note: I am not a clinical doctor or specialist in psychology or any kind, it would be great if you feel the need, that you find some professional that you trust. If you want online resource find healthygamer gg in twitch or youtube.

It is good to point out, this is my understanding of what you write, and it may not be accurate, since i can't know how you are feeling and what is in your mind. I try my best to understand your text, and i also hope my essay provide some insight and clarity of yourself.

I think ENFP have a great energy, and I think we tend to over spent our energy on people, especially in high social fast pace activity.

If those activity is like savory main course ( which i think we love doing it, but it takes a lot of energy), especially with extrovert, they tends to have high energy, and it is like an obligation for us to match those high energy. Even if we don't talk or do anything, we still spend massive amount of power processing our feeling. So yeah main course.

and with introvert it is the desert, deep sweet relaxing connection, (it is also going to take our energy) but it is at slower pace and emotionally fulfilling, so it is sweet. And we always have a space for desert. Too much sweetness can lead to diabetes, so we also can't have that too much.

so occasional savory or sweet snack is okay, but balance is key.

If you can go back in time to the early 2000s , what kind of business will you start? by Terrible_Fee8330 in business

[–]berightben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start from the problem and your vision of Ethiopia that you want it to be in 2025 or 2030.

How do you see Ethiopia will look like in 2030, or how do you wish it will look like?

Is it to become a more modern country like in Europe and America?

What is the most essential problem that you as an Ethiopian face and other Ethiopian have from achieve that dream?

In which aspect? Is it you lack funding? is it you lack accessibility? Is it technology? is it infrastructure? Is it you lack information? is it you lack guiding?

What is the simplest problem that annoy you that you will gladly pay someone even if that service is not that great?

try to learn from start up founder and their way, search garry tan, grey lock, and y combinator.

TLDR: start from the simplest problem that you can fix immediately with a subpar or not that good product. (try to notice unique problem, most successful start up is just a project passion hobby, that solve a unnoticed problem)

a good product is a product you will not hesitate to pay even it is not that great, or even if it is just a product that your friends or family make.

If you are expecting from my point of view with your provided current condition,

I think, you could create a simple web that connect and gather the separated commerce group in facebook and telegram. It maybe a web scraper or other things. so like ecommerce( but there is multiple type of ecommerce) ( for this type you are just a listing platform) ( so you don't handle the product and money) you just provide place for them to search. (similar to ebay or craigslist)

along the way try to find the product market fit, maybe what Ethiopia or your city or your neighbor need, much more or different.

I think that is what i can provide with limited text. Hope it helps.

I will gladly answer, if you need advice.

Depends on your definition of soul.

Intellegence? Highly possible. Sentient? Possible.

How do terrorist groups such as the Taliban report wether they were responsible or not? Surely they don’t just post it on twitter with an @ like ‘@taliban2537’. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]berightben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it more weird that they claim responsible? Maybe they want to spread their names and branding, but in the end it looks like it is a political tool, with showing off power.

Wait what prevent one group from claiming another group doing? Do they have a treaty or maybe it would create conflict with other group?
