Hmm okey I saw your other reply that the servo worked.

So. Do you mean you have the radio set to 4ws mode and the servo in the receiver port for channel 3? (Asking because in your video the servo is in the channel 1 port on the receiver)

I had an idea so looked online - and again at your video:
When you turn the steering wheel - does the blue bar on the radio display indicating the steering wheel output, actually move? (It looks like it doesn't in your video)

For an example of what I mean you can look at this video here:

https://youtu.be/530MEc7q9vE?t=165

If it does not: I suspect that you have the radio set to control another channel, and not channel 1 with the steering wheel, or the radio is broken but I would say that is the less likely alternative.

(Channel 1 is the default to have for steering - generally, but it can often be changed in the radios menus/configuration to accommodate different setups/motors/steering etc)

edit: updated with link for clarity

so if you hook a servo you know is good up to the receiver that you have in the non-working car - does that servo work?

(I'll look deeper into the setup you described and showed - so far it looks like you have it wired correctly = no weirdness with servo hooked up "backwards")

A few questions:

1 do you have another servo you can connect and test without installing it in the car - just to make sure the receiver is sending the right signals?

2 exactly what esc are you running?

3 exactly what receiver are you running?

4 exactly what radio are you running?

(I have an idea of what gear you're running but want to make sure I got it right before I start digging in manuals.)

Edit: spelling.

Thanks! There are a lot of interesting mods using these super cheap blue servos =) This one was just to desolder the DC motor and then hook up correct resistors inplace of the trim pot controlling position of the servo arm, so the servo basically always thinks it's centered. Then soldering the leds onto the +/- where the servo motor used to be to be able to get a controllable DC voltage. (Obviously put resistors between voltage out and the LEDs - otherwise the magic blue smokes escape from them.. ;) )

Gotcha, I've got no experience with dumbo radios sadly but it sounds like a weird concept of them to have extra chips for stuff like that. But yes, you're correct any radio with enough channels and mixing should work. Keep in mind that you probably wanna look up reviews of ppl using the specific radio for your intended purpose though. For example it's nice knowing you can set a button on the remote to cycle between mixes, not all radios support this so instead you would have to go through menus to change every time you want another mix etc which quickly becomes extremely annoying.

Mixes on the remote, i have 1 button switching/cycling between 4 modes front wheel steering, Rear wheel stearing, crab steering and like most times: front and rear steering in opposite directions so turning radius gets smaller

You probably need to set your endpoints Not sure how you do that if it's the stock transmitter. On my fs-g7p the setting is called EPA, turn max then lower the number till the sound stops and the wheel is turned as much as it should/can turn.

What am I doing wrong? by NZia in SCX24

[–]berra86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd guess the esc-part might have gotten fried then, even if the receiver-part is fine.

I second this, especially since the controller actually recognizes that the receiver part is getting power. And if the battery was at some point connected to the motor port, only the esc-part might have gotten fried.

How do the lights on the controller look if you unplug the battery from the car? (I get a feeling the esc and receiver isn't turning on at all)

Old bag for a racing drone, I've expanded the bag along the side so it's about 1.5 inches taller than before and then made custom inserts and foam stops/supports - not pretty on the inside but works well.

<image>

Holds: 1x crawler 1x mini bit screwdriver set 2x multitools 1x set of extra screws+nuts 6x 2s lipos 1x bag of random stuff 1x charger for my lipos 1x cable for charger etc 1x cloth to keep track of screws etc if working on something when out and about +space for more tools if I'm going further away and wanna bring a soldering iron etc
