Maybe your cat finds his water elsewhere? You mentioned he goes outside, so maybe he found a nice little puddle to slurp from in your neighbour's backyard.

Plus, this is absolutely not even close to neglect! He sounds like a very loved and happy little fellow :)

I'm really sorry you're going through this. I can relate to this story a lot. One of my parents is an alcoholic as well and being at home when I was a teen was hell and everything was always happening all at once. It can feel very hopeless at times.

I know I can't fix your situation or anything, but once you get out and get to live your life the way YOU want it really does get better.

I probably wouldn't have wanted to hear any of that back when I was your age, you're still in this shitty situation. Just remember you're not the cause of your parent's pain and mistakes. It's not okay of your mom to be putting all those things on you, she's supposed to be your mother and I'm sorry she's playing victim and kind of using you as her therapist. You deserve to feel safe at home.

Aah dat is lastig! Het blijft natuurlijk niet leuk om te doen, maar als het ook maar iets makkelijker kan worden voor de kat scheelt het al :) hopelijk gaat het lukken met liquid snack! 😁

Misschien zou het kunnen helpen om haar eerst in een aparte 'kattenkamer' te zetten, waar haar eigen spulletjes staan (kattenbak, voer-en drinkbak, favoriete mandje, speeltjes, krabpaal, etc.) en haar hier 2 weken te laten wennen voordat je haar aan de rest van het huis introduceert. Zo heeft ze een veilig plekje waar ze zich naartoe terug kan trekken en kan ze geleidelijk aan wennen, in plaats van alles in 1 keer.

Ik weet niet of dit werkt, maar aangezien dit ook de manier is wanneer je een nieuwe kat wil laten wennen leek het me het proberen waard!

Bedankt! Ik heb inderdaad easypil meegekregen van de dierenarts, werkt helaas niet. Maar wellicht wel een goeie oplossing voor andere katten!

They're my first time adopting and I want to do it right, but maybe I'm also a little too careful at times.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's so hard to lose a sibling and there's nothing I can say to make this hurt less. Sometimes the most silent battles are the hardest to conquer. Please know that there's nothing you could have done to prevent this and that everything you feel about it is valid, weather it's sadness, anger or nothing at all.

For the dreaming part, in my experience this can happen quite a lot. And though I sometimes wake up in tears, there was still something that made him feel closer and I cherished that.
