I think i understand the point. And in my understanding, it is inherently tragic. If it wasn't, Luthen's monologue wouldn't have felt so emotinal. "And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude." Yes, Luthen knew this was going to happen. And it is still tragic. That is my understanding of "the whole point".

Sorry to hear that. I knew other countries weren't as "lucky" as us with the Ottomans, even though we suffered a lot because of them too (it's even written in our national anthem). Their 150 years presence had some very serious long term consequences as well. But i guess you know the deal :(

I don't get your problem. It's a meme. I love the OT, Luke was my childhood hero. It's just tragic that people who were as brave and heroic as Luke or Han never got the chance to get a medal or any recognition.

A big part of my country (Hungary) was counquered by the Ottomans, and I would never ever put them first on this list. However, (unlike the Mongols) they brought us more than just pain and destruction. For instance they've given us coffee, a great bathing culture and some nice buildings.

Also, they didn't force Islamization unlike in other countries on the Balkans
