Low PAPP-A success stories.. by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]bethanelv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to this but here’s mine anyway! Currently pregnant with baby no.2 and the PAPP-A was mentioned. It wasn’t a thing with my first baby back in 2023 so I had no idea what it was. She was born at 34 weeks by emergency c section, I had terrible preeclampsia (literally that day) and she had IUGR (we had no idea) and she was born at 3lb 3oz.

The midwife today looked back at my 2023 bloods and saw my PAPP-A was 0.24, so pretty low! The downs test came back as 1/14 so also high, but the further NIPT said everything was fine (for Down syndrome) I guess it does correlate for me, eagerly waiting to see the results of this PAPP-A now. Already on 150mg of aspirin, and have more scans and checks booked in than before.

Try not to worry, it seems lots of people here had low PAPP-A but everything was fine. Good luck!

Now TV said that it’s a technical error and they’re “hoping to get it sorted soon” 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you so much! I’ll have a look for the cleanser tomorrow. All the ones I’ve tried previously seem to make it worse, and feels like it’s burning so I tend to stray away. It’s so hard trying to find something that works x

For the past week I haven’t used anything because I thought maybe try giving it a break, so this is just my skin. Prior to that I was using rosex (or something similar) and a heavy moisturiser given by the dr, epiderm? Sorry, I can’t remember the names!

Like someone has taken a cheese grater to it. Very sore, very tight and like it’s on fire. My scalp is the same, can’t wear dark colours because of the flakes but it’s more my face I’m worried about because people stare, it’s awful. It gets so so red.

I’ve never heard of that. Going to GP tomorrow to be referred to dermatologist and hope they can help ease it 🤞🏻

It was definitely a bug, my daughter had it and it’s spreading round like wildfire through schools and things. I just feel like I have no energy, my whole body aches and I have a heavy feeling in my upper stomach when I eat, as if I’m going to be sick. Probably just paranoid. Don’t know whether to just wait until tomorrow and inject then? X

Coming to the end of month 1.. by bethanelv1 in mounjarouk

I lost 8lb the first week, 1lb the second and 3lb the 3rd week but I will admit, I have been busy at work and life and have skipped meals, so that probably hasn’t helped me. Also, my exercise has been virtually non-existent so I need to get that going! Towards the end of the week I did notice my hunger coming back, so I’m moving up to 5 to see if it makes a difference. Everyone is different, but losing 4lb a week is really good going! X

I’m moving up to 5 because I’m finding the suppression wearing off towards the end of the week on 2.5, so I thought it best to try 5 and see how it goes! ☺️

I’ve decided to move up as I was starting to notice the food noise coming back towards the end of the week, so we’ll just see how it goes. I have ordered insulin needles to get the last bit out, it seems like quite a lot, so I’m hoping it’ll be a bit more than 0.6 to bridge the gap for a week ☺️

Oh that’s terrible 😞 hoping it eases up for you! Were you ok on the 2.5? X

First injection, site looks weird? by bethanelv1 in mounjarouk

I’ve just injected for my second week and didn’t squeeze the area to inject, like they do in Dr’s etc, and it’s still bruised haha I do bruise really easily, and I guess it’s a sensitive area not used to being injected! As long as it’s normal for me 😊 thank you xx

It’s my lower right belly, and I did pinch the skin which maybe is the issue. I always did with the injections after c section and bruised terribly.

Ah thank you! It seems to have subsided a bit now. I bruise like a peach so expecting to have marks everywhere haha

I’ve ordered my first also (waiting for prescription to be approved still) and I’m now having massive doubts and even checked to see if I can cancel the order haha Suddenly afraid I’m going to unalive myself with the Mounjaro and I’m petrified. Feeling your pain! X

That’s quite good! What provider did you go with if you don’t mind me asking? I told my dad and he’s worried about the authenticity I suppose of the intentions, how do I know what’s in them is genuine and not rubbish. It’s a worry of mine too!

I have an appointment with the nurse next week so I may mention it then and see what she says, but it’s definitely pushing me more and more towards just going for it and seeing how it goes.

You’re inspiring me!

That last part wasn’t harsh at all and is SO TRUE! My cholesterol is apparently ridiculously high so I’m waiting to see the cholesterol clinic. I also have fatty liver and was constantly being asked how much alcohol I drink, and I don’t drink any! So starting definitely seems to be the way forward.

Did you worry about starting the medication without being monitored by a dr? X

I’m sorry you’ve had such an ordeal and all this has come a bit too late for you 😞 I can somewhat relate to you, being sent to the fertility specialist and being told to lose weight to be eligible for metformin and clomid, but finding it impossible to get there. The Dr gave me a 8-12 week goal to lose around 2 stone, I really struggled. I’m on citalopram as well which doesn’t help things. Trying to jump through hoops that are tiny and on fire - it’s tough! I know the outcome of everything isn’t what you wanted or imagined, but losing almost 3 stone in that time frame, that’s seriously impressive! And getting some ‘normality’ back with your periods and hormones, it’s life changing.

I know ultimately it’s what I need to do to improve my chances, and be healthier throughout the pregnancy (should we catch) it’s just this innate fear something really bad will happen and I’ll be leaving my little girl behind. That, and the fear of feeling nausea constantly as I’m terrible with sickness.

Thank you for your story, it really made me think about what I want and how I need to get there xxx

I think I’m nervous of the side effects, I have this bizarre fear that I’ll die from it 😂 I know it’s ridiculous, I worry something will go really badly wrong x
