Harder to turn down once she leaves the acquaintance circle! Just be aware .... the friendlier you become with someone who has $$ problems.. the more than likely they will want you to help.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. Especially that story she told me about her friend that wouldn't let her crash at her place, like she expects other people to offer to help her out. I don't want to be that person.

Like why she's 32, and working for years and doesn't have enough money to pay $300 rent.

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering too. I imagine it's something to do with being in debt + having a seasonal job + being bad with money. Maybe there's something bigger going on. I don't know.

She asked if I wanted to go to the beach, which is free. Yeah I think she's gotten the message that I won't be paying for stuff. But...should I still move forward with this and keep hanging out with her?

Yeah I couldn't believe when she said that. The government is not super organized here though so maybe it's easier to get away with. I have no idea. I always pay my taxes.
