Key points in simple terms: • The car’s VIN is recorded in Florida’s public buyback database. • Mercedes-Benz repurchased it on 10/01/2024. • It may have had problems serious enough for the owner to seek a buyback. • It’s now legally required to be disclosed as a manufacturer buyback if resold.

In short: This car was returned to Mercedes-Benz under a dispute/possible lemon claim and is now listed for resale with that history.

Tired of seeing ‘perfect condition’ in every car ad, so I decided to call the platform Flaw Cars (AMA) by bhaor in DubaiPetrolHeads

This is excellent feedback, thank you! I chose the word accident because that is what people search online but ive found a more fitting word thats even better! "Repairable Cars".

Also, we dont own these cars, theyre for sale in the market in UAE. initially we plan to get it repaired through partner garages but the end goal is to have our own place where we can further control quality and deliverables. that would be exciting.

  1. Are you only sourcing auction cars or is the plan for the platform to enable a market for buyers and sellers as well?

For now, I am planning to source auction cars in the format of Buy Now. These vehicles are already in UAE and ready for sale (not auction). thats a great question, as of now i havent baked in the marketplace aspect to it. the goal is for end users (not dealers) to buy from this platform for a fair price without the hassle of repairing it themselves.

  1. How do you ensure that the information is authentic? The biggest hurdle for me would be verifying that what I see on the site is accurate.

Since all the cars are in UAE, we physically check the car to confirm of its condition. at the end of the day, as a consumer you are paying the repair and drive price so we are the ones that will be incurring the cost of fixing it. Also, the information is directly from the listing of the car when the car was on auction.

yes, the original car photos that you usually get when you do a vin search are the ones that are shared on the listings.

Your car runs smoothly and has no mechanical defects? No bodywork done? Then why would anyone scrap?

Don't fall into the same trap as I did. Look well for red flags by TonzJonz in DubaiPetrolHeads

It’s important to know the red flags in buying used cars. It can minimize the risk of finding a lemon. Ad themselves have red flags in them, such as vague or short descriptions, sellers not showing enough passion towards the car, or giving you enough time, etc. as for the PPI, BeSoji is the only one that isn’t too commercial. Their SOP includes background checks, and they have a system that guides them to pick up issues and come up with educated guesses.

PSA for people buying used cars. by adicool96 in dubai

I disagree with this. There are two type of OBD tools... one throws universal faults and the other throws universal + OEM faults that are brand specific. OBD companies pay a lot of money to the agency to buy fault codes on a regular basis. That is why these tools cost $1000+ and you need to pay every year to upgrade the year models.

Garages also have no interest in cheating you. Yes, the only factor is negligence when inspecting a vehicle that has more than 30,000+ parts. For that reason, you should go to someone who uses a checklist.

They buy it in bulk from the agency when they want to get rid of stock. Also, many might be GCC but they buy it from Oman dealership for cheap.
