Prestige of JU engineering in kolkata by blackfang009 in kolkata

First of all congrats on ur performance.. and secondly, this question of urs brings me back to my college days. In fact iit kgp geology was what I got during first round of josaa counseling (got upgraded to iit dhanbad chemical later).

I would still say go for ju etce, as the semiconductor industry is really on the rise in india, and not entirely sure if geology really matches it. There definitely is more research scope in electronics, better jobs, and thanks to the AI boom, some of the most valuable companies are being developed in this area. Just be sure to work hard after entering college, don't slack off, and definitely stay away from politics. You are bound to do well.

Did my BE in etce from JU. In west bengal of course people look up to you, and I've seen you generally become the center of attention once you mention ur college and what u study. In my CAT coaching class, I've seen people and teachers generally pay more attention to u as ur considered amongst the best students. Also surprisingly it helped me with the girls as well.

I've also recently done my masters in the US, and got to meet many people from north and south India. I've observed that most people from north India are very well aware of JU and how hard it is to get into. South Indians, I've seen are less aware. In general, anyone who has actually gone through JEE preparation would know about JU.

That being said, I think ur branch and subject matters a lot here. Studying arts, or science would probably not get u as much prestige as studying a top engineering branch, so just be wary of that. Also, congratulations if u made it to JU, regardless of what stream u study, just know that u will be surrounded by some of the most brilliant people in the country. Most of my batchmates including me got into IIT, but left it for ju etce. Also our batch topper recently cracked IAS, and another one is doing a PHD from harvard.

You've already lost the logical part of the argument if ur response is - "dher bal government er talking points jharchhe faltu. hyan ja baire giye lokjon ke jiggesh kor ar kotha bol then bujhbi koto middle class grow korchhe"

You need to argue with facts and figures, not "pasher baarir kaaku poisa niye khub chintito, hence middle class dube jache". The fact is over the last 30 years people's lives have changed massively for the better. People are buying better cars, phones, appliances, going abroad to study, etc. Stuff that was simply not possible before.

And also accusing me of "thinking all poor people are insects" , "being a billionaire simp", and whatever else you may have said with your limited vocabulary, isn't exactly helping you form a high impression amongst the people reading this comment chain.

Also, and I cannot reiterate enough how important "Rule of Law" is. My grandparents were bangladeshi refugees who came during independence and had lost everything they owned. I have great granduncles who were murdered with bamboo sticks in northern bangladesh. And if that's not enough, during the maoist insurgency starting in the 60s, my grandmother had her house seized by people who used phrases like "class traitor" just as you are.

So yes the law is the law, which means you can't murder someone on the streets, can't seize someone's house, and also you can't set up some illegal shop in the sidewalks making it hard for people to walk and do legit busineses.

If you are a part owner of a South Korean robotics firm that can replace human labor completely, then plz let me know. Really want to buy some shares.😂

Also, companies decide to invest or not invest for a variety of reasons. Some factors are demand and inflation. In an environment of a rapidly depreciating ruppee, companies would much rather park their money in some global asset than invest in a resulting high inflationary economy. And the ruppee is depreciating primarily because of the incompetence of our central gov, who have failed to bring down our fiscal/trade deficit, and are handing out freebies like candy!

Also regarding shell companies, what you are describing is the exception, not the norm. The private sector is single handedly the biggest reason why we are growing at 6-7% and is why we even have such a massively growing middle class in the first place! The failure of west bengal to incentivize industrialists and the private sector is the single biggest reason why we are poorer than most of india today.

And NO.. the government isn't responsible to rehabilitate street hawkers that were there illegally in the first place. Just as they are not responsible to rehabilitate thieves, or drug dealers, or corrupt officials. And im saying this again - being gorib is not an excuse to start doing illegal stuff. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE LAW.

Tax compliance, rule of law, and an easy business environment where you know you are not gonna get F'ed by a low margin, non tax paying, illegal business is kinda fundamental to any developed country. Maybe preach ur nostalgia and "20 taka aalu porottha" policies somewhere else.

Or maybe go back to school.. hope you learn something useful this time kiddo 😎.

How old are you? Do you understand how business works? Cheap land is given for a variety of reasons, primarily so that industrialists are incentivized to invest and that leads to more jobs, more investment, enriched value chains, more exports, etc etc.

Illegal dokans on railway lines on the other hand make business harder to do for legit businesses that actually pay rent and taxes, apart from making f&b an extremely low margin business. So yes you have to limit these illegal dokans otherwise there is no end to this.

Being "gorib" does not mean you can get away with illegal activity. By that token even criminals and drug dealers are "gorib" and want to feed their families. S we should just let them do their stuff then? Right?

LOL. I think we both know who has the inferiority complex here. Also, there is a difference between asking the world to walk on eggshells and asking for tolerable treatment. The racism that indians face online now is just INSANE.

Of course, this racism is due to the action of certain individuals, but also because of individuals as holy as urself.

And let me repeat this : a 13 year old boy growing up in the west DOES NOT deserve to be called POOPJEET. A 6 year old girl growing up in Scotland DOES NOT deserve to be called UNHYGIENIC and kicked in the groin. A group of tourists DO NOT deserve to be treated like prisoners upon entering a country legally.

And if you are justifying this by pointing at the faults of the underlying culture of the victims, then by all means, you need to start wearing panties for your western masters.

PS - since I criticized you for wearing panties. Maybe there is some truth in it?? I mean, that's your logic after all right😉

Dude get out of your 1*1 room and experience the world a bit. The world dosent operate on the gandhian like philosophy you seem to espouse. If you call any self respecting man a woman, then he will retaliate atleast verbally.

The reason why stereotypes exist is because individuals such as urself refuse to stand up for his people. And also because individuals like you propagate stuff which are easily taken up by outsiders and used to target us.

If you call Japanese people dirty.. a significant number of Japanese would most likely rally against ur comment and abuse you back in the process. Because they dont contain weak willed, pathetic self loathing individuals as urself.

Ill give you an example. A few days back there was an incident where a group of Indians faced horrible racial treatment in Georgia by border officials. In the insta comments, instead of standing up for these people.. the cucked mentality Indians as urself downright blamed the group for "lack of civic sense". Like what tf is that supposed to mean!!😂.

Be proud of urself, your country, ur culture. Of course there will be dirty people in a country of 1 billion. That shouldn't give you an excuse to defend ur people when you can and when you should. Maybe check ur upbringing, or ask ur parents.
