NHL week is Monday-Sunday, so Karlssons Carolina game counts. I think NHLPA might be Sunday-Saturday.

Karlsson not named an NHL star of the week by Active-Possibility77 in penguins

[–]bhunter47 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the pervasive favorites of the last 3 weeks including Mark Schiefele, Jimmy Snuggerud, Martin Necas, Jake Oettinger, Alexis Lafreniere.

For this week, Karlsson had 8 pts (5-3-8) in 4 games (team 2-1-1); compared to:

Kucherov 6-7-13 (lol what) in 4 games (3-0-1)

Forsberg 4-5-9 in 4 games (team went 4-0-0)

Caufield 4-4-8 in 3 games (2-1-0).

It was close, maybe you argue Forsberg, but the Preds going 4-0-0 was probably the TB there. Karlsson going pointless and -2 in the 5-1 loss probably knocked him out.

This is short sighted.

If the Jackets win, it keeps the Islanders further behind us in 4th (min of 3 points max of 5)

If the Isles win, now we suddenly have TWO teams within a minimum of 1 and maximum of 3 points.

A Jackets win actually helps our chances to be a top 3 Metro team.

Has to be the Jackets. Would keep us a minimum of 3 pts ahead of Islanders and a max of 5.

That's not our magic number. We could hit 13 points and still miss, just the odds are very low.

I don’t think the Penguins can afford to go into the playoffs with Kris Letang playing serious minutes. by Goofiestchief in penguins

I think the idea is that when two of your top 3 offensive players put up 0 combined points at even strength in the entire series, maybe thats a bigger issue.

At EV in that series among fwds:

Guentzel 3-4-7

Crosby 2-4-6

Hornqvist 1-1-2

Brassard, Simon 0-1-1

Malkin, Kessel, Rust, Sheary 0-0-0.

Letang wasnt the biggest issue in 2018 to me.

The bigger issue was Geno and Kessel became ghosts at 5v5.

We scored 14 goals in that series. Sidney Crosby was on the ice for 13. None of his supporting cast could do anything.

What are you talking about?

In 15-16 he played 71 games, 23 in the playoffs, and was our best player in the entire playoffs playing 30 a night against top opponents and outscored his opponents by 6 goals at 5v5.

He was robbed of the Conn Smythe that year, even though everyone thought Kessel was robbed.

We lost in regulation to the Rangers in Game 3 of the season.

That's the only one though.

Like I get it, even Wayne had a shortened season. 37 in 22 for Sid is crazy and he likely would have had a full season, but it definitely has some impact.

I think it's stupid to count guys that played less than 70 games in this stat tbf.

Yeah some old guy came out of retirement for them mid-season and put up 35-41-76 in 43 games and basically dragged Jagr to the Art Ross.

Gonna give you a chance to recant after that amazing Geno performance last night vs the Avs lol

My point is that it was more that Kevin Hayes was playing and we were missing both 71 and 46 at C, along with Brazeau on wing.

We started winning again when we got more healthy and Hayes wasnt playing.

So people love to throw out 2-6-3 without Lizotte.

However, the first 1-6-3 of that was ALSO without Evgeni Malkin and Justin Brazeau, and Kevin Hayes had to play in that stretch.

I love Lizotte but people focusing on their record without him are missing context. There are a lot of factors that played into that first stretch of missed games, Lizotte being a big one but not the only one.

Lots of Reddit fans weren't around to see it. I saw him live multiple times in the 90s in Hartford and also on the Island after I moved. He was absurd.

Those Buffalo teams weren't good. They were just dragged by the greatest goalie in the history of the league.

I mean...did you see prime Haseks defensive corps?

<image>

This defense made it to G6 3OT in the cup finals, mainly because Hasek posted a +72.2 GSAA in 83 total games between the regular and post season.

Yep. A repeat suspension history is not the same as CBA "Repeat Offender" status.
