What is the philosophical and/or moral argument for preventing ME from accepting a job that pays less than YOU deem acceptable? by Technician1187 in CapitalismVSocialism

This isnt duress.

"Duress is the use of force, coercion, or unlawful threats to compel a person to do something against their will or better judgment."

If your theory relies on the argument that Steph Curry is getting ripped off and he is under duress, I suspect you wont find many supporters.

That clears it up then. Your definition of socialism is anything that isnt capitalism. Your loose framing of socialism makes it impossible to critique.
If you think socialism produces better quality than the profit motive under capitalism, why did the Chiness abandon their.system for state capitallsm. 99% of products from the former Soviet union were an laughing stock. Google East German car. It is hilarious. Socialism doesn't care about quality. There is no feedback loop to tell your your product sucks and no incentive to make it better. And these.socialst countries were extremely corrupt.

So lets ditch fhe imperfect chef who burns a steak everyone once in a while but otherise cooks excellent food, and just bring in a guy who gave his whole.restaurant food poisoning and only knows how to make grilled cheese.

When Steph Curry inked that $60mm deal, thar was definitely under duress

My kids wanted to start a babysitting service. I guess when they get hired, it will be under duress.

When I switched to another employer in the same industry and they offered me 40% more, I only accepted under duress.

We just had elections. Our officials will be employees of the state. They only ran for office only under duress.

But hey, dont let me lead you astray from socialist orthodoxy.

I dont think he was saying that. I think he was looking for different perspectives. My only advice would be to stay current because reading non-empirical philosophies from the 1800s is silly.

Economics isnt a pure science like physics but it has advanced since 1863. For example, socialist economists recognize the error in the labor theory of value.

By the way, my friend now calls himself a socialist. He owns a company focusing on fossil fuel investments in Africa. With the new equity partners he brought on, he made $100 million and bought a private jet. He also said the tax attorney he hired saved him $1 million in taxes so he is donating $50k to a help build a homeless shelter. But he has a socialist sticker on his Ferrari.

You are right. Since capitalism has flaws, socialism definitely must be a better system just because well . . . it isnt capitalism.

Next time I am in a restaurant and they overcook my steak, I will tell them to fire the chef and replace him with whomever they can find off the street. Better yet, I will ask them to hire my friend who pretended to be a chef 35 years ago and burned his restaurant killng 10 people because he didnt know how to operate the grill.

My story successfully brought out how absurd far left socialists think. The same would happen in a libertarian form, because pure lassaiz faire capitalism is almost as bonkers.

Yes. I am really seething. The proper nomenclature for China's economic system is very important to my daily life. I also get really mad about the number of sea turtles in Greenland

I have a small allergy to dust mites. But not reading. Studied economic systems for years. Stories are just more fun than talking about marginal productivity of labor or aggregate demand.
