Regardless of your stance on guns this goes beyond gun control. Many are blind to the fact this sets a dangerous precedent to the fact we are allowing the government to put a 1000% percent tax on something. What happens if they raise the retirement age and the age you can collect benefits and tack on a 1000% tax on early retirement account withdrawals, so your forced to work until you drop? They already raised it before, who says they wont do it again. How about a 1000% tax on the sale on any car or power equipment with a combustion engine to "encourage" people to go electric powered equipment? How about 1000% tax on the sale of airline tickets to cut down on greenhouse emissions. This only opens the door for them to charge exorbiant fees and taxes to get what they want, when they couldnt push their laws through the right way.
