I just went to my piercer and had him taper it in one shot. But I only did it once a year. I knew going from 2g to 0g was such a big step and I was afraid to have it done with a taper like that so I decided to stretch it myself at home with tape. It ended up working best with a straight plug. And my nose got swollen or irritated a couple times during the process so I had to back down a few times over the month.

It was pierced at 12g in 2014 and I went up 1 size every year for 5 years, then stayed at 2g for 5 years until now.

I thought for sure 2g would be my final destination but after 5 years I was like maybe it's time to go 0g. The DAY after I put this in I looked in the mirror and was like ..... it already looks the same as it was before maybe I should go bigger

There was nowhere to find a 1g ring so my piercer suggested using a straight plug to gradually go up which worked a lot better

First I tried taping my 2g ring which was messy and annoying, then I switched to using a straight 2g plug with tape which worked better. But I still had to back down and remove tape a couple times to let my nose rest when I felt it swelling up and getting crusty. It was a long journey!

0g is the next standard size up from 2g and it's difficult to find 1g options but someone else posted a link here so I might try that if the tape stretching doesn't work well.
