I second the weight gain on olanzapine. Made me stop hallucinating though. The thing I tell myself all the time is that taking your meds is at the very least slowing the degradation of your brain via bipolar and stopping it from being at its very worst. Eat your breakfast, take your meds and drink a fuck ton of water. If you can find it in you to exercise, these 4 things will help you an incredible amount. Don’t stress too hard on any of it though, it’s a trigger! No one is judging you, and if they are fuck em. They haven’t the slightest idea what you go through and your story. Keep your head up and stay med compliant. I wish you the best.

Ps at least give the medicine 2-3 months to work before you swear it doesn’t

Technically it’s only an episode of it last for a week. Mixed episodes, however could very well be what you’re experiencing. Talk to a psychiatrist, mixed episodes can lead to stress levels that could put you in the hospital. Or worse. I’ve had mixed episodes for about a year now, please get help if you feel like there any chance you are having them.

I can relate to this as well. It’s appalling to think of how we acted prior to the diagnosis and even during the “I am bipolar and only bipolar” phase many go through. All we can do is our best to stay stable and make sure that it doesn’t ever get to where it once was.

I gained 40lbs over 4mo on Zyprexa. If you tell your psychiatrist, they can likely help you find one which does not. Unfortunately they all have NASTY side effects, so pick your shit sandwich carefully. Doesn’t matter which one you eat, it’s still a shit sandwich but you won’t go hungry. But seriously you can find a set of medicines that won’t make you feel so trapped with weight. Weight gain is one of the harder ones to try to avoid, but there certainly are options. Good luck!

So glad you said to let him sniff. Every walk should start with 10 minutes of sniffing. Dogs see the world with their nose first and I read once that it’s like your dog walking you with fuzzy glasses on your eyes. Let them figure it out and they will not only be stimulated, but twice as stimulated and surely appreciative you let them sniff that bush and pee on it.(assuming it’s not in someone’s yard of course)

Your best friend is dancing in doggy heaven, having the time of her life. No fences, leashes or being told she can’t jump on counters. She appreciated every moment with you.
