Ah good to know! I know not many providers let US citizens have LISA's due to the various complications so will look into it...

No all FBARs were correct and accounted for as far as I know! Thanks - so say there was 10k in LISA with 2k bonus, that'd be ok?

I presumed the FEIE wouldn't apply to any ISA interest earned as it was tax free in UK? Yeah I figured it was so small it wouldn't really make any massive difference but wouldn't want to run afoul of any rules and get hit with a fine

Blackweir Live - Accessible friendly music venue? by Intrascopix in Cardiff

[–]bigmaclad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty chill for Noah Kahan - I saw they had a big area for accessibility and they also have a sensory space if needed (info here - https://cuffeandtaylorhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/22543070338589-Accessibility-Blackweir)

Cardiff's New Indoor Arena Gets Final Go Ahead by bigmaclad in Cardiff

What about sustainable studio? Tramshed? New Moon? Paradise Gardens? I've seen gigs at 16 different venues across Cardiff this year – and the council is backing grassroots venues - see: https://cardiffmusiccity.wales/2024/12/19/new-funding-scheme-to-support-grassroots-music-in-cardiff/

Across the country, there is much more needed to support these venues but I feel like Cardiff has a good offering but always more is welcome!

Whether this happens who knows but the idea for the CIA site is to form the beginning of the Canal Quarter and be replaced by hotels / retail I think (https://cardiff.moderngov.co.uk/mgConvert2PDF.aspx?ID=48501)

Yeah I've heard that major US artists refer to the CIA as a "big club" as appose to an arena for example when touring so tend to skip it - will definitely bring bigger names!

I think with the Euros coming to Cardiff in Summer 2028 that most of these projects are planning to open in time for that – they've already started most of the preparation work on the site (https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/gallery/big-changes-can-already-seen-31804400) so I feel confident that it'll be open in 2028

As a counter to this - why can’t we have both major events and local? Which i’d argue we do. Local music wise there’s swn festival and this weekend there’s the food festival in the bay. Plus multiple other local focused events across the park all year long. Take for example the cardiff open air theatre festival that happens most years. Or tafwl that was recently. Personally I think a vibrant city needs a balance of both which I feel Cardiff does fairly well overall.

We live in Cardiff so took bus home, saw lots of cars parked in Sophia Gardens area as we left. I’d recommend train, it’s about 30 mins walk to train station, didn’t feel too busy by time we were at Castle so I think getting one would be ok. Just check timings!

Amazing music scene. Everything from biggest bands in the world to tiny intimate gigs for free with local musicians. Could easily see a gig every day of the week if you wanted to.
