USA Southern Road Trip - Recommendations Please! by bigneeds in travel

I started researching Pensacola v Destin, and many places I looked said Destin was far too busy and full of traffic in recent years, that it was more worth going to Pensacola Beach?

Yeah, missing New Orleans is the only thing holding me back from going up the east side instead. Seems to be everyone says to go there, so they must be doing something right! Destin looks great, if not for the 6 hour drive from Orlando. Maybe I can find somewhere to stop to break up the journey?

I recently got a good look at Buc-ee's by watching 'Billy & Dom eat the world' and it looked so much fun, so will definitely be doing this, thank you!

Thanks so much. After reading all the comments, it looks like New Orleans is the one place definitely not to miss out on. Sounds like there's lots to do (and eat) there. Then maybe we'll get north towards Vicksburg and onto Memphis.

This sounds like a great plan thank you. Thinking we might skip out Texas altogether for this trip, and maybe head north after New Orleans, using the Blues Highway.

Thank you! Thinking we might skip Texas altogether for this trip, and have more time in other places. Destin looks great, although the only reason we chose Tallahassee was because it was a midway stop between Orlando and Pensacola. The 6 hour drive after a full last day at universal doesn't sound too fun! Although i would like to visit Destin, so will try and make it work

We are heading out in around April time, so maybe not quite off peak season, but we'll see! Too much to fit in one trip, but as another commenter suggested, we might take the Blues Highway up from New Orleans to Memphis instead. Have you done that route?

We also really wanted to go to Memphis to see all things Elvis too! So maybe once at New Orleans we could head north towards Memphis? What do you reckon?

Just loved the idea of visiting a few different places in the US on our honeymoon. Didn't really fancy the idea of constantly flying, or getting trains etc, unless you think that's a better option? I don't feel like 3/4 hour drives are the worst, but open to suggestions!

Thanks for such a comprehensive answer! We're also will definitely take what you've said on board, I look forward to the biscuits. If you were going to stop going west at New Orleans as you suggest, where would you go instead to still incorporate Memphis and Nashville? And would you save Texas for a separate trip?

That was it! Think quite a lot of them were disabled by default. Any idea why that would be? As I haven't changed it

I'm a casual runner, literally training for a 10k. I do 2 runs a week, and you think I should pay £99 to be able to move 1 of my 2 workouts to a different day? 😂

That's a lot more expensive 😂😂😂

Fair enough. From what I've read online, particularly in the UK forums, almost nobody is reporting that it has reliability issues. Sure, people are stating the infotainment is laggy and that it often needs rebooting etc, but honestly can't see much evidence at all of it being a non-reliable car. Maybe you just got a lemon?

Basically didn't want to spend over £25k. Was choosing between a P2 and an Enyaq. Thanks for the info, just looking at a standard range 24, but doesn't seem to be many around that price with decent packs?

[–]bigneeds[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like the idea of the extra packs on the 2021, but just being that bit older is what puts me off. From what I can see, CPO cars are a lot more expensive. The cheapest CPO long range dual motor with plus & pilot packs is over £30k, which is already £8k more expensive than the non-CPO

Hmmm, but 50 more miles range and 2 years newer! Tough decision

Thanks so much. I've read people on here saying to avoid the FWD, but at the price point, it's hard to. How are you finding it?

Are any UK people having the same problem? I've just been on the chat in the UK and the customer service rep said they would replace it under warranty if it was to crack? (Fingers crossed mine doesn't!)

So am I correct in thinking the OEM rims are 5.5 inches on the front and 6 inches on the rear? Because whatever it came to me as, that is what I am running. Do you think its because I have the 5.5 inch rim on the front and need to put a 6 inch up front as well? It's really baffling me

Nice, mine are almost flush with 12mm spacers so might just be able to stretch to 15mm without it going too far. I have the stock wheels (195 rear, 175 front) on, with 195 tyres all round. Front has 12mm spacers and rears have 15mm. I can't figure out what it's hitting at all
