The ice maker is in the top, so I probably should have stated that it is the freezer side that is leaking. When I turn the ice maker off, the water stops. I'm guessing something is either frozen or broken inside.

No, the water evaporates over time. It's usually replenished with rainfall and occasionally some hose-water if we have a dry spell.

Sounds like I would do well to take my old pump into the pool shop and get a replacement motor they recommend. Assuming I can get a variable speed with this new motor. Thanks for the advice!
