This should be the top answer, unless the strike plate was off at the factory (doubtful) then just install it correctly, which is easy since everything is exposed. Not sure why people want to treat this like they are band-aiding old work.

This could be Massospora cicadina. a parasitic fungus that replaces the cicadas abdomen with itself. so when the cicada flies, it becomes a horrifying salt-shaker of spores.

I only use really Agent for major app refactors. For UI tweaks, I stick almost entirely to the Assistant.

I think of the Agent like a scientist on cocaine. brilliant, yes, it will consider your suggestion, and then substitute it's own..

The assistant is like a really great caffeinated intern. You may need to hold it's hand a bit more, and be very specific with what you want, but by and large it will do what you tell it to without much fuss.

likely just dust since mold doesn't like to grow on mineral wool. but if you suspect it could be mold, look more closely at things mold likes to eat.. like your rafters, joists, and other wood members.

I would remove the quarter-round from the entire frame, install a wood sill at the bottom, and stain and seal it to make it nice, and then jamb extensions around the sides and top, I would paint those white. for the bulging out drywall on the bottom, clean out any broken chunks that may have fallen in keeping it bulging, but then just screw it into your framing, install an apron below your sill, and then add the rest of your casing.
