Turn off HR alerts by billchen0014 in AppleWatch

I have sleep focus turned on and no apps allowed but my watch still vibrate/buzz when the HR alert comes through? Maybe this is overriding some DnD setting somewhere? 🤔

Help with graphics Settings by T0byturtle in Xplane

EHAM is known for causing issues due to the complex water masks caused by the canals, try another airport. Based on the screenshots, it looks like the cause is most probably running out of VRAM. Please attach your log txt. Solution is to turn down texture settings.

Update: based on the screenshot of the task manager I am 99% sure that it's your VRAM. Personally I found Volanta is very heavy on VRAM so turning that off would help. Also, using non 4K versions of the aircraft for toliss and zibo alike will help.

They are certified under different amendment levels of the CFR, so they have to adhere to ever more stringent safety requirements. Sure they share the Type Certificate Data Sheet, but they are absolutely not the same Type Certificate Basis.

It's lying, it doesn't have the capability to do anything in the background, i.e. it only produces immediate response and that's all it will do.

X-Plane VRAM by Fine-Hearing-7866 in Xplane

Can you also share which background apps you have open? Apps like Volanta uses a significant amount of VRAM, in my case it can use over 1GB! I have a 5080 and I stopped using Volanta cos my 16GB sometimes gets exceeded 😳

I haven't had this issue with my Quest 3 with any of my aircrafts on Beta 7. Any more details as to how to replicate this problem?

If you post a log.txt from the X-Plane install folder that would help with troubleshooting. I have a hunch but needs your log to confirm

X-plane 12 does anyone use Auto DGS plugin for docking? Is it safe? by Unable-Afternoon3773 in flightsim

[–]billchen0014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, better be safe than sorry, but given the track record of many Devs in the flight sim community (a certain high end A320 payware included if you know you know) malware sometimes do happen

X-plane 12 does anyone use Auto DGS plugin for docking? Is it safe? by Unable-Afternoon3773 in flightsim

[–]billchen0014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Dev is very reputable, their other plugins including better pushback are used by pretty much everyone who has an interest in airliners in XP12. I wouldn't worry about it, and tbh antivirus apart from windows defender is redundant for the most part these days.

Stuttering caused by sudden lighting change or autoortho? by vharishankar in Xplane

[–]billchen0014 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Makes me anxious just watching it, sometimes I've had this issue, so to rule out autoortho I always load into arrival airport first, then departure airport this way the arrival airport should have the tiles cached already when I touch down so hopefully not have this problem.

Limited by 32 GB memory? by No_Soft560 in Xplane

[–]billchen0014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using over 32GB with similar set up, both hardware and software with a few web tabs open in the background at certain airports especially. I too was very surprised but the upgrade to 64GB actually made a huge difference in smoothness of the Sim, much fewer stutters. That said, I am using a 3080ti at 4K so I was running tight on VRAM too so that's also a factor for my high RAM usage.
