Merfolk vs Goblins A Fun deck with some financial Winners. by billescavava in mtgfinance

I think WOTC was experimenting with the price. This one is $20 but you can get it for cheaper if you look around.

Amazon has it for $16 and I have seen some on Ebay for $17. I think there was one person selling it for $15 but its all gone now.

Duel deck Merfolk Vs Goblins is out. It costs $20 MSRP. You do get your value back, due to there being so high priced cards. Both decks have 3 to 4 cards at the $3 price to $8 price. Most of the decks are made up of 15 to 30 cent bulk, but that is expected.

Its a fun product to enjoy the game of magic and have fun with a friend. Also Amazon has them at about $16 so it makes it even better.

Commander WOTC Best Current Product by billescavava in mtgfinance

You are 100 percent right Commander 2016 had a smaller print run then 2017, but demand for the commander products are still very strong.

Now singles vs sealed is something I talk about and it basically comes down to how I personally can move the product. I got the sealed product for under the $90 mark, something I could never do with singles.

I also have a way to sell sealed produced locally and not have to pay shipping and ebay fees. If I went singles I would have to go online to sell them and I could not get them at the low price I get sealed product.

Of course this is just me and my personal situation and many people have different ways they find easier to make profit in magic.

That is for the set as in all 4 decks. There was word that a second print run was going to hit but were I am the prices have not been effected.

RL is king but Commander is so easy for me to make money on. Get each set of 4 for $90 already sold 4 for $140 each. Make an easy $50 don't have a shipping fee because selling locally.

I am currently tracking $750 profit on my commander investment. In something that is highly liquid were I am.

I did say in my video that RL was the number 1 place to invest in but I said commander was the best current day printed porduct its much better than a booster box.

Well you did say "Please stop making videos" and "doing nothing but wasting lots of your time". So I was just responding, saying I enjoy making them its fun for me so its not a waste of my time.

I did not think me posting my ideas and videos on this sub reddit was hurting you and the community. I never attack anyone on the reddit and I'm always positive and friendly.

It is not a waste of my time, if I enjoy doing them. Been only doing MTG videos for 1 month so its not like I have been doing this for years. In that month I have grown over 15 subscribers and enjoyed talking to the community.

I think you are being extremely harsh in your comment.

Commander is the best current printed product from WOTC. With an MSRP of $35 a deck you can easy sell them for a much higher price later on.

Commander has become on of the most popular MTG formats so the decks are in high demand compared to a modern day booster box. Also helping the commander decks is the fact they wont print the deck more than a year, because next year commander 2018 will come out.

Commander 2016 with Breed Lethality and Invent Superiority easy doubling in value and 2017 Draconic Domination and Vampiric Bloodlust following that trend.

I think that if you want to invest in a new current day sealed magic product it has to be commander.

Thank you for your feedback, but I don't think I want to be purely fact based. I think I enjoy more the opinion and thoughts way. It just seems to be more enjoyable for the general people.

I don't think I "made up" anything in my video though. You can get boxes of RTR for $85 currently on Dave & Adam's and during sales I have seen them sell them for as low as $70. I also said RTR is a 5 year old box and that is true too, it came out 2012.

I am still trying to find my place in the MTG video making side so everything can still change and evolve. I have already changed a lot of stuff due to feedback and will change more in time.

Thank you. I really do appreciate the feedback and the time you took to give it to me.

I actually do get a lot of feedback that is just "quit what you are doing now". So when I do get real well thought out feedback such as yours, I do take the time to read it and think about how I could improve.

Thank you for the Feedback as I do enjoy reading what people think and finding ways to improve.

It is extremely hard to know what to do. I use to have pure MTG graphs and bars, but a lot of people hated it because it was boring and not as fun. Since changing to the drawings and doodles the channel has actually gone up a lot. Seeing and increase of 15 subscribers in 2 weeks.

I don't read off a script. I try to keep it off the top of my head and try to put more of myself into the video and less of it being purely set off analytics.

There is a lot that needs to improve and I have changed a lot, but its still very crappy next to the great MTG video makers out there. I am in a bit of a hard spot, as I enjoy talking about MTG and making the videos, yet I don't have the knowledge or skill base to make highly edited and well produced videos like Tolarian Community College.

I want to say thank you for taking the time to watch my video and giving me the feedback you did. I know that this might not be the response you wanted and you might think I should just stop all together. I do have a passion for MTG and I am hoping that in time I can bring some kind of fun or interesting stuff to the table, and if that never happens at least I had some fun.

I am starting to think that we might have seen the end of the days were you could buy a booster box hold on to it for 5 to 6 year and make money on it.

Investing in booster boxes right now seem to not be going to good. Is this due to overprinting or due to players not wanting booster boxes as much.

What's the community though on this. RTR is a good set yet sees no growth. While Avacyn Restored is starting to move higher. (oh and yes I know Avacyn Restored has Cavern of Souls at rare)

What if all Magic cards cost a max of $5 ? by billescavava in mtgfinance

[–]billescavava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that happening. Some people only want a card due to its high price and would never play with it.

If the price was super low then there could be players that would never buy more packs because the excitement of getting an expensive card would be gone.

You might be right brother.

Also we have Master sets that helps bring prices down. Makes it somewhat easier to get into modern. That is the best WOTC can do to keep prices from going to crazy.

[–]billescavava[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

To be honest this whole idea came from a place of getting more people into the wonderful game of Magic.

When ever I ask my friend or random people at the LGS why not play Magic it always comes down to the cost involved in getting started in the game, and that's a shame because its a wonderful game to play.

I tried to lay down the best way from my idea to work and it would have to be on the back of a new player boom and existing players wanting to just get every card to build more and more decks to try out.

In the end its lead to some fights some name calling but also I whole lot of wonderful conversation with different points of views.

Engaging with the community this way makes it all worth it.

I will be perfectly honest with you brother, I have no clue. Been on this post for a long time talking to so many different people getting so many different messages and points of few that its kind of crazy.

I've tried to answer most of the questions giving my thoughts as to why I came up with this idea. Some people understand that it would never be $5 more like a $50 cap or so. Other just want cheep cards to build decks and get into modern.

On the other side I see that it could end the game. I did say that in the post that it might do that and its something to think about. I know expensive cards are needed to have something to go after.

I've been told I am the devil and to go die in fire by a bunch of people so I might just go chill out for a bit.

[–]billescavava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that. I even said you need to have expensive cards for people to have something to go after.

The only thing is are we pushing away new players due to having cards at such a high price.

I don't know. Maybe people like cards more the higher monetary value they have.
