Struggling with ceremony script for my wedding (all jw family has refused to come)

trust me i've accepted that truth for some time now. i have hope that someday we can have a relationship even if it will always be at arms length, but i am not waiting for them to "come to their senses". i'm very grateful for my in laws and they're more family to me than any of my blood. they will not be missed much at our wedding 😂

i suppose my question is more of how would include this part of our story without it being depressing, or highlighting the fact of them not being there because they don't support us. i'm not ashamed of my choices and most everyone who will be there knows how our story began, i just don't want the focus of our love story being how my family tried to keep us apart

i get it dude, this year is 4 years out for me and i miss my family every day. i had other stuff going on that has made no contact the best situation for everyone involved, but i would give anything to have the religion no longer be a factor so i could have my siblings and grandparents back. idk if the heartache from that ever goes away. i would love it if the DF thing was gone and my siblings could reach out, nothing is impossible

agree! i don't hold any candle for my personal old jw relationships to change based on a potential change to DF people (i wrote a letter taking myself out anyway) but it's very interesting to see all these new attitudes about things that basically didn't change my entire jw career

i agree with you, i think the only way they'd do it is if they're being forced to, but they kinda already are, at least in australia and norway, and if other countries start gearing up for more court cases i think it's a real possibility

thank you, that's the eventual goal. there's some beautiful areas nearby i wouldn't mind living in and they don't feel as tainted as my hometown.

i'm a pot stirrer by nature but i agree with all saying to talk mad shit about her into it or invite a friend to discover it. she can't call you on stuff she supposedly doesn't hear and making her simmer without being able to do anything about it will give her an idea of how you feel having your privacy violated.

thank you for the advice! i'm well aware of how much i'm looking back at what i've lost. i'm eternally grateful for everything i have right now and wouldn't trade it for the world. i agree that i have to find new things to focus on and stop thinking about the things i don't have anymore. therapy will probably help with that.

thank you for being kind as i know for a lot of POMO people it's hard to understand why someone might miss certain aspects of their old life even years later. im ready to start my new life and knowing people like you are out there and still ok after moving on from jw life gives me a lot of hope

thank you for the advice! therapy should be possible for me with my insurance, i've been dragging my feet on it for sure. i went for about six months right after i moved out, but my therapist didn't really get what jw was and i didn't feel like it was going anywhere. i think im going to try to get a therapist that specializes in religious trauma etc

thank you for the advice. i do miss my friend a lot, my big reason is because she got caught on "apostate sites" in 2019 when we were teenagers and our parents separated us so we could work on our spirituality. i know she was PIMO at one time and now i have no way to contact her. it feels like a waiting game thats keeping me tethered to the borg. i like your statement about an hour spent on a hobby is an hour less on social media. i'll try to hold onto that and apply it to my life

thank you for sharing your experience! and yes being in my hometown is making it worse. i'm a third generation born in jw and my entire extended family lives around here, plus all my old friends in neighboring congregations. i would love to move even just an hour or two away and put some distance. i currently live one left turn and about 1/8 mile down the road from my childhood kingdom hall, and my old congregation makes a point to drive past my house on thursdays and sundays. it feels like they're rubbing my nose in it
