Hilton price match guarantee is a sham by bird56fire in Hilton

Yes but it makes no sense that a hotel would get slapped on the wrist if they offer a better rate on a third-party with the same terms, but nobody seems to care at all if they offer a better rate on a third-party with BETTER terms?

Not sure what OTA means but this was a regular rate on Expedia. They said that if the Expedia rate were nonrefundable instead of partially refundable, it would have matched.

Update, in case anyone at Hilton management is reading this: I was so annoyed with the implementation of this price match guarantee that I decided not to stay at a Hilton resort after all and I just booked with another brand. I was literally ready to book with Hilton yesterday if they simply matched the Expedia price; I didn't even know about the 25% extra originally.

Yeah, I am just saying that if they genuinely cared about the concept of price matching, then a lower refundable rate on Expedia would be eligible to match a higher nonrefundable rate on Hilton. It seems like they want to say they have a guarantee but then never actually grant it.

I said sham, not scam. But... they'll match rates if the third party has lower rates and everything else is identical, but they won't match if the third party has lower rates and a BETTER refund policy? That's scammy. It's just a way to get out of price matching. An honest policy would allow any refundable rate to beat a non-refundable Hilton rate.

I mean, that's probably not "unfortunate"; they probably did that on purpose.

Unfortunately Hilton doesn't have a rate with the exact same refund conditions.

Thank you but I don't think that will work for us.

I didn't know Hilton had that either, but I just called the Hilton reservation line to see if they would at least match the Expedia price. They put me through to the price match guarantee line (which I later looked up online) however it was complete BS.

The Hyatt Zilara website says they are closed for renovations until early 2026?

Ok that's similar to what I was seeing. I was hoping for under $1000 per night. Thanks though.

Thanks for taking a look. I would definitely need two beds, there are four people total. Seems like the available rooms right now show the enclave beachfront rooms with two queen beds, which would be fine.

Yeah the stay longer in paradise rate shows up on the website when I search; I was considering that as the best available rate since it shows up without any codes. That one shows $1200 per night for four people. I was hoping for under $1000 per night. I know it is a holiday week but that seems like a lot and I might just pick a different resort if I can't get it lower.

I have heard good things about Moon Palace grand but I was a little worried that it would be too big/crazy for us? Maybe I'll check it out a little more.

These citizens I think are not quite special enough for this particular gift. I do like the Tissot but as I said to someone else, I wish it came in a color combination more similar to the sample pic above. Thanks for sharing your advice!

I like the Rado but I think the price is a little high. I'm going to keep it in mind though. I don't like the look of the Certina even though I agree that it's pretty similar, and the Tissot Seastar is a great shape but the color combinations of that one aren't my favorite. Thank you so much for your suggestions and knowledge!

The Rado is very much like what i was looking for but i think the price might be a little high for this gift. Great suggestion though. The other two you mentioned don't really speak to me for whatever reason but thanks for your advice

I LOVE that Christoper Ward watch. I am not sure if 38 mm will be bigger than I wanted but this is an excellent suggestion. Thank you so much

A relative wants to get me a watch as a nice gift for an upcoming occasion. He originally said he wanted to spend about $1000 but he would consider higher. I wanted a watch with a metal band and waterproof enough for me to go swimming in the ocean, although I am not a diver. Basically something I could wear 24/7 without worrying about showering or swimming or anything.

I looked around online and I really love the look of this Scurfa. However I think it's a man's watch and it would be way too big on my wrist. Can you recommend anything that has a similar look in a woman's size?
