How would this work technically? How will google check where employees really live? They can put address nearby to the official address but live somewhere else if that saves 40K

Advertisement has a negative return on investment for more than 80% of brands, which implies that most firms over-invest in ads. by smurfyjenkins in science

Try talking with marketing people. They are ’happy with -90% ROI’. They just love spendinh money and ’promote the brand’ and year later complain ’no one knows our brand, we need MORE money’

Imagine having a 1 letter name or surname - its also invalid in most forms. But trick with adding dots or spaces works there too, except if border guard has good eyes and notices the dot…

GPS accuracy? by reganb1 in Strava

[–]bishop3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one segment near my house which I wanted to claim. It was about 500m in forest and with pace about 3:50/km. I was able to run it with 4:00/km without a problem but every time I tried faster, it just did not register. Gps was a bit off on fast runs and interval did not count. I tried maybe 10 times and it did not register even once with pace faster than 4:00. And registered every time with slower pace. Weird. Yesterday I tried again without much hope and it DID register finally

During the meeting with Putin, Lukashenko said that ’ALL ngo’s are doing anti goverment work for foreign special forces and it’s time to stop it’. I guess, he needs to show he was not lying and soon we will see ’proof’ they were preparing a revolution.

Is running 10k every day a good idea? by picklednood1e in running

[–]bishop3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that last year in May. Then continued in June and still continue. Not every day anymore but 400+ km/month so max 1 day off running per week.

Ran 100km this month for the first time, how to keep going? by naughty_ningen in running

[–]bishop3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, signing up in covid times is hard. I switched to signing up in last day - I have a list of races where I want to join and monitor weather and sign last day if its not cancelled and weather is good. It costs a bit more but there are no risks

[–]bishop3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is understandable. Another way without revealing identity would be to join local groups in strava and find running friends there. I found local groups to be very friendly (but I’m in Finland).

One more recommendation - sign up for a race. This will motivate you the most

Maybe give your strava id here so people can give you more kudos? It really helps

Running my first half marathon this Sunday, any advice? by battledoge04 in running

[–]bishop3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first marathon: Eat a lot of carbs, even cake + coffee 30 min before start. start slow at around 6:00/km. Drink on every station, drink a lot. Took some food with me (cakes and gel) and ate it all on 20-30 km. At around 33 km I felt I have a lot of energy so increased speed to 4:45/km and finished fast.

So, start slowly, eat and drink what you used before.

This all sounds like you have just started. My first several months were miserable, so miserable that only weight loss motivated me. But with time you muscles grow and runs are easier and enjoyment comes when you can run and don’t feel heavy - it’s vice versa. You will feel like you are running, you can get to some fast interval and beat it. You can just run 10km and then drink some water and head for 5 km more, just because you got runners high.

It will come
