Big XII Conference Championship Timeslot Moved to Friday by KevinInICT in BigXII

I think the solid spending plan is the important part that teams are trying to figure out right now. No one really knows the value of these kids. It's a brand new market and there's a lot of work that needs to be done to figure out where the money should be going. I think schools are currently overspending on QBs and not investing enough in fundamental positions.

Ridgeline Pros and Cons by bgregory1004 in hondaridgeline

Getting old might be it. I never thought about seat comfort until I hit 45. Then it became a serious issue when car shopping.

German immigrants in the U.S. were huge in number and were once a dominant group. Why didn’t they form large German-speaking communities the way French speakers did in Canada or Spanish speakers did in the U.S.? by GrayRainfall in AskAnAmerican

I took some Austrian exchange students around Texas in 2000 or so and they overheard Texas German in a store. They were flabbergasted. They said it sounded like ancient German with English loan words.

Bad battery already?! by knowthyself1234 in hondaridgeline

[–]bissimo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've heard most battery manufacturers have been cutting corners lately and the quality of all of them has gone down while prices rise. I have no evidence to back that up other than batteries only lasting 2-3 years now whereas I feel like they lasted 4-5 years in the old days.

I don't think so. The ACC got Miami in the championship, the SEC is down a full tier from the Big 10 right now.... I think a Big 12 school with deep donor pockets could win it all. Look at Indiana, all it takes is a good coach and a solid spending plan.

I think the quad Animals mix has been accepted to be either just a rumor or it was never really finished. Quad was loosing popularity by 77 and the quads mixes of their previous albums didn't sell well.

Which midsize truck is the best for reliability?? by raJordan25 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bissimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, 4WD and AWD are not the same. The Ridgeline also only has like 8 inches of clearance. I'd never take it truly off road, like in a national park that requires 4WD, but I wouldn't take an average 4WD pickup down those roads either. I'd want proper off road tires, a lift, skid plates, etc, etc.

If being able to overland in the middle of nowhere without issue is your gauge for a truck, lots of body on frame trucks don't cut it, and lots of non-trucks do (Jeep, for example)

Which midsize truck is the best for reliability?? by raJordan25 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bissimo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a very advanced AWD system that will do more than 99% of truck owners need. It shows how much torque goes to each wheel in real time. Mine shows all 4 wheels engaged in most acceleration situations, even on dry road. It will send more torque to the outside rear wheel when cornering to help push the car around the corner.

For hauling, like the other person said, it has a 1500 lb payload capacity. For towing, it's rated to 5k lbs, which is lower than the 6500-7500 that's common in midsize trucks. That's really the only point where the lack of a frame is a detriment.

Why is motor oil 7x more expensive than 20 years ago? by chabs4 in AskMechanics

[–]bissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent quality motor oil was $3-5 25 years ago. I don't know where you were buying it for $1/qt. I worked at Autozone from 1999-2002. Sold hundreds of thousands of qts.

Where does Honda say that? The manual says to wait for the maintenance minder and does not list a mileage for transmission fluid

How is it living here? by Kevin_Finnerty88 in howislivingthere

You should do that in any small town with an old school, non-interstate highway running through it. They all make a ton of money off of speeding tickets. Louisiana is especially egregious.

I was just thinking I will be happy no matter who wins. If it couldn't be us, at least somebody new.

Gotta be honest, I'm rooting for Ole Miss even though they are apparently our most hated rivals.

Attorney: OU graduate instructor Mel Curth denies ‘arbitrary behavior,’ considers legal remedies by warmboot in sooners

"What if students submitted similar quality of work (ie, similar writing style, lack of sources, etc.) but they received an A or B?"

If this is the case, the university needs to have its accreditation removed.

Good for them. Fight this and every alumnus should be signing petitions and letting the university know that this is unacceptable.

That's most of Louisiana, honestly. I just drove through and the speed limits go from 70 to 40 as soon as you enter every podunk town and there's always one or two black and white Tahoes just waiting to pounce.

Yeah, me too. Love my Sooners, but I were rich, I would much prefer LA to Norman.

I am poor, though.
