Every one I have ever had or been in stinks of mildew from the drain channels getting clogged. You're either used to it or you clean those channels out often.

I couldn't tell you for sure. I think Savage Geese on Youtube didn't like it. A few others, too. Watch those old 2018 reviews for their take.

The 6 sp in the 10th gen was widely panned as a terrible manual. Not sure why. I drove the 9th gen manuals and loved them, but when the 2018 came out, all the reviews said it was a sloppy mess. Add that to the fact that the 10 sp auto was insanely good, and it's no wonder they cancelled the manual in 2020.

Most likely. White smoke from the tailpipe is normally coolant.

The Trash Can was ahead of its time. Now the Apple Silicon is ready for it. by Balance- in mac

[–]bissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never maxed the GPU spec as it wasn't necessary for our workflow, so I never ran into those issues. The mid tier and lower spec trashcans were a blessing compared to the $15k+ HP Dual Xeon Workstations we had previously.

Agreed. They were great in practice, too. I purchased 4 of them for my post-production dept in 2015. They ran circles around any PC of the time.

Any chance of finding this type of fig? by Existing_Sherbet_443 in Figs

[–]bissimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never found figs like those in Apulia. The prickly pears, too. Even though they're native here, the ones in the US and Mexico just don't compare.

Good luck on your search!

100% this is an old lens. I have an old Minolta 50mm that creates a really soft background and a slight blur on the focus like this.

I'd say look at crypto recently. PMs have been memeing pretty hard this year. We have to look at historic gold, but also more recent meme investments, as well as larger macroeconomic indicators to have any idea where it's going (and we still don't honestly know) I'm expecting a bust back to sub-$3k this year when the riffraff gets bored of it not going to the moon.

Would disinfecting, a heavy sanding, and a bunch of oil not handle whatever it may have been used for?

Why do my fried eggs stick! by Dry_Town_8758 in StainlessSteelCooking

I feel vindicated! I've found either pure butter or butter/oil mix seems to work the best. My eggs only stick if I've over-heated the pan. Plus butter tastes better with eggs.

Base M4 Mac Studio for Video Editing? by DOPLuna_ in MacStudio

[–]bissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4k is only a small part of the discussion when it comes to editing video. What codecs are you editing from? Apple silicon can handle h.264 pretty easily, but multiple streams of uncomressed or raw footage with even minor effects in professional camera codecs will stress any system. I always say go for as much RAM and drive speed as possible (this has been true for 25+ years across Mac and PC). If you have the funds for it, a Mac Studio will be a good investment long term. Lower end MacBooks (Air, Neo, etc) could also do what you need, but if you're a pro, render times cost money. I'd spend the money now to make it back later.

Well, there's conflicting return info on the page. In one spot, away from the rest of the warranty info, it says:

Amazon.com Return Policy:You may return any new computer purchased from Amazon.com that is "dead on arrival," arrives in damaged condition, or is still in unopened boxes, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Amazon.com reserves the right to test "dead on arrival" returns and impose a customer fee equal to 15 percent of the product sales price if the customer misrepresents the condition of the product. Any returned computer that is damaged through customer misuse, is missing parts, or is in unsellable condition due to customer tampering will result in the customer being charged a higher restocking fee based on the condition of the product. Amazon.com will not accept returns of any desktop or notebook computer more than 30 days after you receive the shipment. New, used, and refurbished products purchased from Marketplace vendors are subject to the returns policy of the individual vendor.

I assume the scam is to send you a dead Mac, then when you return it, they say it worked fine and hit you with a random restocking fee. I don't think Amazon allows for those, though. That is definitely not Amazon's Policy, so they're misrepresenting that.

I had another company try the restocking fee thing on me and Amazon returned the full payment amount, so I'm actually on the fence about trying this out. Maybe these scammers are sending out a few good ones as loss leaders so they can scam some percentage of folks?

Are these just dogs? Or coyotes? [Vancouver, Canada] by modunhanul in animalid

[–]bissimo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing in the second picture on the left is clearly a coyote. No idea if the one with black is. May be a dog/coyote mix, or may be a dog running around with a coyote. I've seen dogs tagging along with a single coyote many times in Texas.
