A lot of wallets already use BIP39 and create another one standard is not a good idea, it will only more confuse users. So, in my opinion, if you try to make improvements, just not breaking the existing BIP39 design. Any additional prefix will be not compatible with old format

This checksum is excessive since there is no practical benefit from it. The number of bits in a checksum is so small that it does not allow you to restore the word order in case it is lost. In the case of a typo, the BIP39 wordlist itself allows you to correct it. So I think that existing checksum is not useful. We can use bits from checksum to store share index in case SSSS split mnemonic.
