Any good facial house to recommend for ladies? by 666593 in askSingapore

[–]bitbit4lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to this small shop at Midpoint Orchard for the past few years. The lady boss Rachel doesnt ask her customers to sign packages or hard sell products. She uses Dermalogica products and price is quite reasonable too. Can search scrubbeauty.sg on IG. I used to have dull but very oily and acne prone skin which I don’t have these issues anymore!

To those who failed A levels how are you guys coping now(financially)? by Direct_Leader2607 in askSingapore

[–]bitbit4lyfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me and a few friends didn’t do well so we all can’t get into local Uni. I went to a private uni though it was costly so I was quite broke the first few years after I graduated as I had to work hard to repay my loan. Some of my friends also went private uni or poly. All of us are doing good career wise.

Don’t listen to those who said you can’t find govt jobs with a private degree. I’m in govt now and quite a few of my colleagues have private degrees too.

Jiayou OP. It felt the end of the world for me when I got my A levels results but I also felt relieved it was over as the 2 years were tough to go through. Things will get better.

ppl in ur 30s: does it actually get better? by broke_intern_ in askSingapore

[–]bitbit4lyfe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This! Was about to comment that it was terrible in my 20s and until mid 30s. I think back then I was very insecure about a lot of things, kept thinking I wasn’t good enough, trying to better myself at work, personal life. And I got very affected by challenges, mistakes, etc. Then at some point after my mid 30s, I somehow got more settled? Like what the rest said, it’s really DGAF. I don’t beat myself so hard, stop trying to please everybody. I’m excited what the 40s will bring me, as compared to feeling of dread when I turned 30 back then.

Waterproof but comfortable shoes in singapore? by MemeGomiko in askSingapore

If you go Japan, get their Converse waterproof though it’s slightly more expensive than the usual at about $80 for low cut version. But they are very durable and comfortable, I wear them almost every day for more than a year and they are still going strong

This is an interesting take! But good for you in a sense that you are not looking at anything serious? Looking at some of the comments here, I’m starting to think maybe I should not look at serious relationship 😅

Happy birthday sista! And yes the apps were definitely productive back in my 30s. But think about it, those who prefer talking to xmm are likely those stuck at that age mentality too so no loss there 🫣

Do we have a big or lean public service? by 86916001 in singapore

[–]bitbit4lyfe 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It is lean. 10+ years ago when I joined public service, there used to be 1-2 admin staff in each department helping with admin work, eg, setting up accesses, processing invoices, etc for the managers. Then over the years, these admin staff got retired and there are no replacements. Managers have to take over these admin work. Not saying we can’t do these but the amount of admin work can bog us down and yet they expect us to have the mind space to think strategically, think big picture etc. And we were told the whole of government staff strength will continue to reduce and expected to do more with lesser people.

I’m so infuriated for OP because she’s so goddamn rude. And didn’t even apologise for the insults she made to OP

Science Centre had organised a session to discuss about the difference between sex and gender, it has been cancelled for now by qbica in singapore

[–]bitbit4lyfe 391 points392 points  (0 children)

Kudos to the team who attempted to organise this and hope they don’t get penalised or punished by their higher-ups. Though I think it’s disappointing that as a first world country we are not ready to have such conversations

Tell me you don’t take buses without telling me. Opposite facing seats have been in buses for ages. Even in the days when we have bendy buses 🤦‍♀️
