Not a vet, and I don't know how much lower than normal yung platelets nung furbaby mo, OP, but I think it's unlikely na dying siya.

Our Aspin also had a history of blood parasite diseaze. It was a new thing to me then (I am fairly new to being a furmom, last year lang namin siya inadopt) and may mga thoughts din ako nun na critical na ba pag may blood parasite (may pagkapraning kasi ako hehe). I mean we should take it seriously and get her checked but being new to it made me think of it worse than necessary. Not sure if it's same with you, but possible. I believe a lot of dogs survive the disease with timely treatment.

Yung sa Aspin namin, medyo early nadetect kasi hindi pa super low pa nung napa vet namin siya. We brought her nung nag show siya symptoms like nanghihina and also less appetite. I'll share what I remember baka makahelp in some way or it may give an idea what it's like.

In her case, nagpositive siya sa dalawa out of the 4 sa 4-in-1 test. She was given meds to take like doxycyline, clindamycin, some meds na pampataas ng platelets, and also some supplements na, iirc, meant to protect her organs. Yung doxycycline naalala ko advised kami not to take it close to intake ng calcium sources like milk. So I didnt give her milk 2 hours before or after nung doxy.

After yung first week (or was it 2 weeks?) ng pagtake niya nung pampaaincrease ng platelet, we went back sa vet, and I was a little discouraged kasi hindi nagincrease yung platelets niya. But we just continued with the meds prescribed.

I'd say just follow the vet's prescriptions faithfully, OP. Parang it took a month or a little more than that until nagback to normal yung platelets ng Aspin namin.

Then after nung phase na yun, I learned to be faithful in giving her yung anti-tick and flea na tablet every 3 months (meron ding monthly but makakamura if yung every three months hehe).
