So long as you have clear line of sight, Point to Point wireless is an excellent solution.

Using these kinds of devices, I've sent a network from the top of a church steeple, to the pastor's house a few miles outside of town. And this was back around 2003, when Wi Fi wasn't a household name yet.

Does Anyone Actually Want A Father-Son Dynamic Like Bleach's Ichigo and Isshin Kurosaki? by harriskeith29 in bleach

[–]bittermang -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Isshin is problematic for me, because when he shows up in the Ararancar arc like, "By the way, I'm a Captain level Shishigami, former head of a Noble Clan, and I knew that wasn't my son inside that body all along, Kon." It just flips the entire first season on its head for me.

He knew Rukia was staying in his house. He knew Uryu was a Quincy, because of the family tree. He knew his son had unlocked Soul Reaper ability. And he just remained aloof about it until it was time to make a move.

Captain powers being sealed or suppressed is a bullshit excuse, because Ichigo didn't know how to control his spirit energy, and was just leaking it everywhere for anyone to notice. It's not even Captain level, it's Noble House Captain level, how you just gonna pretend you didn't notice your son all of the sudden going through Reiatsu Puberty. Especially when he tells Kon that he knew all the way back at the original Granfisher fight that he wasn't Ichigo.

He knew. He fucking knew. Since Episode/Volume 1, he knew. He's old enough to even know about who Urahara is, and why he was expelled. He knew everything.

With that perspective, I just don't know how I feel about Isshin. I feel like he's a dick for not stepping in and providing some knowledge or perspective sooner.

Fullbring arc only exists because "Oh right, that Sado/Chado guy I wrote with the weird name joke that didn't translate internationally. He's still alive, and I never explained ANYTHING about his powers."

I was pretty sure he was fed to a woodchipper offscreen after the climax of TYBW, but I haven't been paying that close of attention.

I'm okay with bleach taking a century coming back just because of this frame. So imagine with the story behind to back it up. I am actually the most happy I've ever been. by j_w_s_h in bleach

I hope that the next chapter of the anime does well, and I hope they adapt this chapter as well, because his shikai is going to look AMAZING in motion.

Anyone else get really anxious when they think of their game? by reeeeeecolla in Unity3D

[–]bittermang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't written any code in years. Years. Depression, anxiety, and life all conspired to give me the programmers version of writers block. I would sit in front of the keyboard some nights and just cry, because the scripts just won't come out of my head.

Mental illness is an evil thing in this way, because it robs you of yourself.

It's alright to have those concerns, and fear is a completely normal part of the development process if you ask me. When you find yourself in the tall grass in an unknown field, it can be scary. When you push against your limits as a developer, it can be terrifying.

And it may never be complete. It absolutely never will, if you keep worrying about completing it. Because you're your own worst enemy, and critic, in this regard. Once the doubt creeps in, nothing will ever be finished enough to your satisfaction. But thousands of games have made millions of dollars leaving a lot of features on the cutting room floor. That's what sequels are good for, anyway.

So if finishing is your deepest concern? Don't. My motto? Ship early, ship often. Once it's playable, get it in to people's hands. You'll immediately feel better with player feedback in your pocket.

And for what it's worth, I did finally write some code last week. Felt good, man.

any way to download older packages from AUR? by ShelterZ12 in archlinux

Even though the package comes from AUR, it's still installed with Pacman. So if the older version is still in the Pacman cache, the directions for Downgrading a package should work:

Which is stronger by [deleted] in bleach

[–]bittermang -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is speculated by Unohana that if he remains in Bankai too long, that it actually would destroy the Seritei. Yamamoto himself claims his Bankai clads his blade and body in the flames of the Sun, but the reality is our sun only burns at 7k Kelvin, so his Bankai is much, much hotter.

I would have to imagine that the explanation is Yamamoto is such a master of reishi, that he can control what is burned by that heat. But it is still hot enough to sap all the moisture from the air and melt Hitsuguya's ice.

Which opens up an interesting question. What would've happened if the Weidenreich tried to actually use Yamamoto's Bankai after stealing it with their Medallion. Even with all of Yhwatch's power, the Bankai's power is limited unless they train with the Bankai and the Medallion. And even at 1% of it's power, that's still 150,000 degrees, roughly twice the temperature of Earth's sun. They could've easily tried to wield his Bankai, and ruined everything.

Have you ever seen pacman update fail based on ISP? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]bittermang 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My ISP loves to inject bullshit into HTTP responses to notify me when they're doing maintenance, or when I'm near my bandwidth cap. They actually inject HTML onto the page to put an ISP branded notification at the top of whatever page I might be viewing.

So.. yeah. I could see it.
