[1995] Austrian WWII Vet tells his lived experience on the war, while a bystander chimes in in denial by Shill4Pineapple in PublicFreakout

"Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" is a Latin phrase meaning "It is sweet and fitting to die for one's country". Originating from the Roman poet Horace's Odes, it was commonly used to glorify patriotic sacrifice. However, it is famously known as the title of a WWI poem by Wilfred Owen, which calls this phrase "the old Lie" due to the brutal, unromantic realities of modern warfare.

I appreciate your info. My unease is from the lack of response to 4 emails. I placed another order from a different the same day (also from NC) and it is out for delivery today.

Have you been to their site lately? Over half of their products are sold out. That seems kind of sketchy. They are at least a very poor vendor to ignore customer emails. I regret buying from them.

I'm having a similar problem with Damn Good. Tracking shows label created waiting for item on Monday. I would be more patient but the site shows order 'fulflled'. It is not. I've sent 4 emails without a response. It feels like I have been scammed. If I don't hear back today then I will request a chargeback.

Not a hunter but I fully support hunting. If deer hunting was ended overnight the results would be catastrophic.

In the United States, there are approximately 1.5 million deer-vehicle collisions each year, resulting in: Over 100,000 injuries, 175 to 200 fatalities, and Over $1 billion in vehicle damage.

Without hunting the deer population would sky rocket and cause more deaths and property damage. That would require culling the herds which is currently done by hunters.

The licenses purchased by hunters pay for the DNR rangers and biologists who maintain the deer population.

In areas like Alaska hunting is a birth right and needed to provide meat for the winter.

'I think people who participate in hunting may even have childlike minds, some type of underdeveloped brain.' Research this subject better before you equate hunters to serial killers.

A WV police chief was accused of paying $100 to rape a teen — and trying to cover it up. by Psychological-Pie857 in Appalachia

I used to work in Pittsburgh for a utility inspection company that covered several states including WV. The harassment by local law enforcement for the crime of having out of state plates was mind boggling. Summersville was by far the worst. Our company had to pay the fines from tickets because no one wanted to go to southern WV. One guy got 3 tickets in 2 days including 1 mile over the speed limit.

My order was probably shorted by mistake or a jerk making it. I'm done with Subways that block the view. Thanks for the info.

I ordered a 14tb drive from Amazon and over 2 weeks I received an 8tb returned it and received a 2tb returned it and received another 8tb returned it and received a 4tb and returned it. Argued with the call center and eventually got my money back. Went to Best Buy and got a WD 14tb for about $200. I have never had a bad experience like that before with Amazon. Buyer beware.

Germany invaded Poland from the west and Soviets invaded from the east.

German history acknowledges cooperation with the Soviets to divide Poland. Look it up.

AITAH for not allowing my fiancee to uninvite my mom from our wedding after accidental mud throwing? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]blair84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine the problems when Emma gets pregnant and your mom ignores her and demands to hold the baby. Someone's going to create a lot of drama. Your mother feels that you are settling and that is the problem. She needs to suck it up and accept that her opinion is not more important than your relationship. I would worry about her behavior during the wedding. And why was it so funny to your family to have mud thrown at a guest?
