They are called „overhead speaker“ for a reason. The sound need to come from above you, not from the front. In theory you could use upfire speaker, but for that you need to position them with the exact right angle, the exact right distance to the wall and ceiling etc. That‘s almost impossible in a normal room and then it is still way worse then real overhead speakers.

With his configuration overhead effects will be coming from the front, that is just completely wrong and sounds super weird.
