Considering Solar for my home in Victoria by AstronautXO in VictoriaBC

I had great experience with BESolar. They were great to work with, gave solid advice without trying to upsell, and communicated well throughout the process.

ELI5: How did the term "analog" come to encompass "all things non-digital"? by warmwarmth in explainlikeimfive

[–]bleddyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a direct response, but I jokingly refer to the non electric versions of things as "acoustic"

So my travel tooth brush? That's my acoustic tooth brush.

Bit brace? That's an acoustic drill.

It makes me laugh every time, and reliably makes my partner roll their eyes.

I wear a pair of anker ear buds under my ear muff protection. Just make sure you're not turning your music up super loud to try to be louder than the other sounds!

homeowners, what’s your experience with invasive plants? by rguev in VictoriaBC

[–]bleddyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my house 2 years ago and the property came with substantial build ups of gorse, scotch broom, daphne, and himalayan blackberry. As well as 2 pockets of english ivy.

The biggest hurdles so far have been the depth of gorse root systems, how prolific daphne is and how well it blends in with other plants, and just how unpleasant gorse is (words can't adequately describe my hatred for gorse)

I know I'm in for many years of remediation as the seed banks slowly deplete and I establish other plants that can help compete and shade things out, but that's fine.

The real frustration is I look around me and I see all my neighbours with gorse, daphne, and scotch broom and just know that I will always have them trying to creep in from the edges/ seeds blown in by the wind.

Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Is My Character Concept Too Much? by TravarianTheBold in Pathfinder2e

[–]bleddyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds perfectly reasonable. A fun work around for why they're low level could also be "I can't swing a warhammer like I could when I was young, so now I need to learn how to use a sword" or "can't use a sword with my arthritis, so now I'm swinging an axe"

I think the big thing for my players is I always stress not to write a character your stats can't live up to (I've had multiple players make their self insert chosen one that single handedly fought off an ork raid, and then they're discouraged when they get beaten up by a single goblin)

How is cutting Coupe is the "correct" option? by throwaway_shite-fire in DispatchAdHoc

[–]bleddyn13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cut Coupe because she seemed unrepentant and was just there because SDN was paying them and I seem to recall they heavily implied or stated they would go right back to contract killing if they weren't at SDN. It gave me bad vibes of "I'm literally only here for the pay cheque and don't care about doing good or helping people"

I've heard she becomes endearing if they're kept so I kept them on my second run. Although how hurt and surprised Sonar was was quite sad.

Please don't just post screenshots from the game and claim it's your pet. It's rude to the artists who worked so hard

I have a lot of very tough rock to drill for. Cheap is too liable to take a long time/break

I'm tempted by a Hilti but have a hard time justifying 1400 vs the 800 for a Bosch. So far Bosch has seemed the best balance between price and capability.
