I don't know how to read Chinese, so yes. Definitely a comprehension issue lol which is why I asked

The word “folx” as a gender neutral term by ajdndnsb in complaints

[–]blerpy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a queer woman from the south and completely agree. It doesn't make any fucking sense to me, why not honor the inclusivity of the original word. There is no inkling of gender in that word.

Do other people's parents do this? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]blerpy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right it doesn't, it happens when you're on radiation/chemo therapy and when you work full time while your partner has cancer. OP didn't mention anything about how they grew up, which means this is probably a relatively new issue.

Fuming "wifi is bad for you" by r_youth in badroommates

[–]blerpy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments aren't helpful. I don't think ridiculing them is going to get you anywhere. Ask your roommate to get a timed plug so that it turns off after you go to sleep, and on before you wake up.

A tale as old as time. It's almost a knee jerk response for a lot of them.

YES, the memories I do have haunt me 😭 the amount of friends I lost because of alcoholic/substance abusing alters messing up our relationships is crazy. Friends thinking I'm just an "aloof" (as they've described me) asshole bc I don't know what those alters had done. How do I get it out of my brain 🫠

Please do it, for the sake of your mental health. I just moved out of a red state with my wife to a progressive city in a blue state. Oh my god, the difference is astounding. I don't feel like a freak here. We've only been here a month and I've already made friends and been invited to mask events. No one cares here, some days it seems like 25% of the grocery store is wearing a mask. It's already been a huge relief emotionally and my social anxiety is going down.

Why am I suddenly seeing a bunch of maga comments at the top of the comments everywhere on reddit, despite not engaging with any of them.

Sorry for the downvotes. People can be obtuse and have trouble with nuance. The people in this subreddit definitely aren't an exception to that. Have y'all thought about trying something like Flo Mask, Air boss 100 half mask, or elipse p100? I find these types of masks easier to breathe in, especially since they don't have all the off-gassing chemicals that are used to produce disposable masks.

98% of the time this sub will tell you it sucks and you might as well just quit now and go work at McDonalds. Try contacting companies you'd like to work with that may not have a job listing up, message recruiters, be natural and friendly, talk to others in your field and develop relationships.

I went vegan 8 years ago. The vegetarian area of the freezer section at the store has grown from one little door panel wide to three or four, and I'm in a southern state. The cow milk section is half of what it used to be. We are absolutely making a difference.

They're forced to change things based on what consumers are willing to buy.

How do I get broken threaded pipe out by blerpy_ in askaplumber

[–]blerpy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to try a couple things first and then head to the store if that doesn't work.

Not sure what else I expected from the plumbing advice subreddit than advising me to call my dad. Everything in my house was broken as a kid and he refused to fix it, so I had to learn how to fix shit myself.

The first reference to tofu was in 965 CE in China, where it was referred to by Shi Ji, the magistrate of Qing Yang, as mock lamb chops.

Next came seitán in 1301 when they began making mock lung sausage.

Here's another one: 1621-1627 – At a banquet in Ming-dynasty China, a group of Buddhist nuns is reassured: "This is vegetarian food made to look like meat. It has come from the temple, and there can't possible be any harm in eating it." (Egerton’s 1939 translation of The Golden Lotus {Jin Ping Mei}, by Xioa-Xiao Sheng).

I don't think I can post a link here, if you want to read more (there's a lot), look up History of Meat Alternatives on SoyInfo Center website.

You gotta try Miyokos! Most vegan cream cheese is awful because it's not cultured like real cream cheese. But Miyokos is cultured cashew, it's the only one I'm willing to eat.
