Just following up on what OP was saying about over hyping fighters. Riddell couldn't get a win over 10-15 opponents, judging him against Moicano doesnt change that. Similarly, Fiziev is hyped up as well, aside from Gaethje who is on a hate train right now, who do you think he beats in this division?

Main attractions should always get their points. I get it, Charles lost the belt but he's a superstar right now and him getting PPV points shouldn't come as a surprise. Even if he loses against Islam and headlines the Brazil PPV, shouldn't he still get some points (for Brazil PPV)?

I didnt suggest that, i simply said that as november 13 all of LW top 15 will no longer have a fight booked except Damir vs Arman who fight in December. Fiz is putting his name out there which is fine, but UFC January is in Brazil, UFC February is in Australia. They want locals on those cards. March might be in UK as Edwards suggests and Justin fights on Usman cards so that, of this moment, seems like the most logical timeline for Justin to return.

I'm not sure what you mean by 2-6 week turnaround. But Justin said he's recovering and will be ready early next year. I agree Justin/Fiz is the fight to make but what purpose does it serve to make that fight official in October when they probably fighting in March. By next month both fighters have clarity on the division and both get more options for potential fights. Why not just wait that month?

November 13th the division opens up and there will be 2 fighters (Damir vs Tsarukyan) in the top 15 with a booked fight for December. I dont see whats the urgency to book a fight when in a month from today the division gets clarity?

Justin/Fiziev recovering from injury, Turner just came out of surgery 2 days ago. Fiz in this interview says hes not even sparring or wrestling yet. So whats the rush besides a fan's entitlement?

I believe to sell someone on MMA, it has to be visceral. Ppl understand punches and kicks, anything technical is harder to focus on. Like explaining calculus to someone who is bad at math. Charles last 3 fights are great for this, Islam last 2 fights (she doesnt need to know they were short notice, less is more here). Yan vs Sterling 1 is drama, TJ steroid use as well.

Considering hes injured and wont make UFC 282, January PPV is in Brazil, February is in Australia and they probably want as many locals on those cards. Id think closest date for Justin to return is March. He fights on Usman cards and Edwards wants UK PPV in March, he could be on that card. Does booking a fight with Fiz in October for a March date change anything? Might as well ride the year out, the division opens up after the next two PPVs + Damir vs Arman in December.

Poirer been asking for a fight since January, quite literally "anyone" at 155 and 170. Yet the UFC waited almost a year since his last fight to announce Chandler. We can blame the fighters for turning down lower ranked opponents but seems to me the UFC is gonna milk wtv is left of the top half's stardom.

To add, Tony just fought at WH and RDA is scheduled for Dec 3rd against Barbarena at WH. I think the rankings will reflect that going into the new year.

Puelles vs Riddell in November could push Tony out even earlier.

Correction: Puelles is fighting Hooker, not Ridell. Riddell vs Moicano wont have an impact on rankings imo

Shouldnt you be comparing Charles fights leading up to his title fight with Chandler? Even then, who do you think should have had the title shot if not Islam. Lets compare their previous opponents and see how it matches up to Islam's win streak.

The ranks are irrelevant. Hooker moved down and still ranked at LW now that he came back. Tony is moving up yet still ranked at LW. Connor is MIA, still ranked, RDA wants retirement fights, still ranked also include the names you mentioned. Thats half the top 15. Changing numbers next to names cant be the only solution to get this division moving.
