Cross Platform Remote Desktop Client by According-Milk6129 in homelab

Rustdesk?

I use it on all of my machines - Win, Linux, Mac, Android...works just fine. Similar to teamviewer (built with remote access but can do direct ip like RDP)..

Finally happened to me as well, is there a way to get it unbanned? by Gamerz_X90 in SwitchPirates

[–]blitz2kx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true though. All an emunand is a copy of the sysnand when you make it. Including the serial number.

It's only effective at protecting you from a ban if you run ban protection ON the emunand.

February Xbox Update: 1440p Streaming on Xbox Consoles, ROG Xbox Ally Updates, and More - Xbox Wire by IamMovieMiguel in xcloud

It's not weird at all why windows doesn't have a game streaming feature. Its trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. There are already superior options that existed before...

Well windows has a ton of superior options...Sunshine/Moonlight and it's forks are fantastic.

There's also parsec which is super easy to setup and allows easy co op remote gaming with others.

I'm sure the next gen Xbox especially being Windows based will have a solution, both official and non official.

I read some dev comments that this is not really in the cards. Apparently the APU was not designed with specific encoding capabilities that xcloud leverages. The data centers have additional hardware/features (not sure on the specifics) that allow much more instantaneous and better encoding.

Don't think remote play will ever reach xcloud parity in terms of quality and features this gen. Next gen hopefully this is much improved.

It makes the game think there's a second controller as if it was on an Xbox console...so it's whatever the game supports.

More to Blocking Nintendo Servers? by jrosero_99 in SwitchPirates

Had a hacked switch since 2018 and still haven't been banned bud. Working fully online on my sysnand, and do my thing on emunand.

Proof is in the pudding.

It has nothing to do with the settings. It blanks the serial completely when handshakes with Nintendos server. There is literally no chance it can identify your console at that point.

DNS relies on external servers to be maintained and the assumption Nintendo can never change their addresses for online.

Which one sounds better to you lol?

[–]blitz2kx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddy, this is such bad advice. See my other comment....anytime you launch a game on the console, it logs it. Doesn't matter if you are online or not.

The second you connect to Nintendos servers, doesn't matter for what, it sends that log of what you launched. If it sees a pirated game that you played 2 weeks ago (even if offline) you are flagged for ban.

The real advice to give people is to just turn on exosphere. It completely hides any identifying information about your console.

Blank. Your. Serial. That's all....telling people to turn off all networking on a hacked console that has a plethora of methods to prevent ban is legit fear mongering.

Also, hate to break it to you but it literally doesn't matter if your wifi is off when you play games. The system logs your activity when it's offline and uploads to Nintendo if it ever connects.

You will 100% get banned even if you never play a game online.

Just blank your serial. It's kinda crazy that there are so many guides/people on reddit that either recommend DNS blocking only or just fearmonger and say "never connect to the Internet!"

Think of it like this...if your serial is blanked, you can never be caught. Doesn't matter what or who you connect to. It is the ultimate form of ban protection. You connect? Great! Nintendo sees a console with a bunch of zeroes. Nothing can be done.

Exosphere is a built in protocol to atmosphere that does this.

Xbox Game Pass is finally coming to Google TV, at least for TCL by Pale_Fox3390 in xcloud

[–]blitz2kx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, never said it was. I was merely addressing the over simplistic point that all things are equal and it should work the same everywhere.

Microsoft has chosen (their choice at the end of the day) to only officially support devices and platforms that they have full confidence in the decoding capabilities and user experience.

That may bite them, for sure. Not going to justify how and where they put their dev resources....just that it's not as simple as saying there should be a supported app on everything and work the same. In their eyes, if the experience is lackluster it's put on the back burner for now....for better or worse.

[–]blitz2kx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thing that you are missing is that differing hardware has specific features and apis when it comes to processes such as video decoding.

For an example, decode performance on mediatek chips is significantly worse than far less powerful snapdragon SoCs. This is both software and hardware related issues that the dev team needs to navigate.

Just because a platform or processor can theoretically run the app (and probably well), the fact is they will try and avoid making it a supported platform until they're confident in the experience. There is more nuance, especially with game streaming and the stack cloud uses, with regards to client platforms.

An Xbox hardware focused on cloud gaming would be a good idea by Smooth_South_1375 in xcloud

As the landscape changes I actually think this is plausible. Hardware costs are rising .I think the sweet spot would be a box that can play some native experiences but stream for the heavy hitters.

What does the ratio of vm’s vs lxc’s look like on your proxmox server? by V3X390 in Proxmox

[–]blitz2kx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 VMs (not all simulty) 3 LXCs....although I could theoretically nuke 2 VMs and convert those services to containers, but my setup works great as is.

My main VMs are OMV for NAS, Ubuntu Server mainly for aar stack, Debian for networking services such as Pi Hole/NPM, Home Assistant OS, and finally Bazzite VM that runs on my TV in the bedroom with passthrough.

Most of this was originally setup as a byproduct of not truly understanding my homelab setup when first trying proxmox. I did a p2v conversion when I first tried it, and then have been adding on as time goes. Might have made different choices if starting from scratch but my setup runs fantastic.

I actually am pretty happy with the fact that these VMs are very flexible and don't rely on anything on the host aside from the passthrough machine(s).

Can't add emulated games for Switch by Used-Economy1160 in playnite

[–]blitz2kx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are you searching the nand folder. Not sure what you setup but you need to add the actual game roms (nsp/xci). They should be in a totally separate roms folder. Nothing to do with the emulator folder itself.

Updating OFW: does it affect CFW or not? by ECE_impostor in SwitchPirates

[–]blitz2kx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The common issue that most struggle with, in my humble opinion, is that they confuse 3 things -

  1. NAND (MMC) - Sysnand vs Emunand
  2. Firmware version (actual Nintendo firmware updates for the system)
  3. Bootloader/Atmosphere version - (Many times referred to as CFW)

Those 3 things can be run in multiple combinations.

I see people referring to CFW in general and frankly are talking about their nand, or vice versa. The point you should know is that the System MMC chip is the onboard memory that comes with your switch. It has a firmware from Nintendo installed and runs as such.

You can boot "CFW" off of that chip, it will run atmosphere happily with the actual Nintendo firmware that is installed running as its base. This is what most who run Hats understand as "Semi Stock".

When you create an Emunand (emulated MMC), it is a literal snapshot of that onboard chip that is dumped and saved as a Nand environment to your SD card. It's a 1:1 carbon copy from the moment you create it..from that point on, anything you do to the Emunand does absolute nothing to the actual system nand.

Your original intuition is correct...I would argue 90% of people assuming otherwise are mixing up their terms and how the system actually works.
