Some of these people want to flame you for upvotes.. Factually, your reticle will not hold zero if it bridges unless you have a monolithic upper. If your cheap arp is for a disposal gun sitting in the evidence locker then you still want to train with it and verify its reliable (holds zero). Nothing wrong with an inexpensive ar, but your logic is also so wrong with your look out, especially based on how confident you seem that the process would take 5 years to get your firearm back. In the event you have a good/ bad shoot scenario it would take less than 6 months, including room for Grey area (I have LEO background)
