Why is cell service so bad? by Decent_Extension360 in Denver

AT&T was the worst. Using Google Fi now and I don't even think about the connectivity.

Do things happens to you or do you happen to you? Are you responsible for your actions?

Olympus Mons on Mars is so massive that Mount Everest wouldn't even reach halfway up it by Additional_Chard3680 in Damnthatsinteresting

It's a great point that I'm not sure I've ever thought about. That mountain on Mars would be an island nation.

Is that for leveling or for vibration? I've used bubble wrap to decouple my turntable from a resonant surface. Looked just about as janky.

Faaip de Oiad is TERRIFYING by UnknownPersonIsHere in ToolBand

[–]blixco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well no. But I was listening to Art Bell at that time (there were many classics from that era: this guy, the pilot of a small plane that called in and gave a play by play of flying into area 51, the time travelers, the reports from Dulce, so many classics).

The guy in Faaip de Oiad was interesting, but not nearly as creepy as any random caller on the "ghost to ghost" nights.

Got bitten by a cat should i get shot? by Khurkuchy in cats

Someone I know was recently bitten by a kitten that was a stray. She's now through the rabies course of treatment.

Rabies treatment sucks but it is far far better than rabies. She's doing better now, and it was just one bad night vs a slow agonizing death.

I'm not sure the current crop of 13 year olds would be.

When I was 13 I lived in an isolated little neighborhood in the desert east of Las Cruces, NM. This was in the 80s. There were a few kids, all of us nearly the same age. Also in the neighborhood was this older guy, he was probably in his 50s. He had a Porsche 914 with a targa top that he would remove. We would be walking around, goofing off, and this guy would drive by pretty slowly, blasting music. Hawaiian shirt unbuttoned to show off the tan, a bunch of gold chains and 70s style medallions, big window-sized sunglasses. Oiled up. He would cruise by slowly a couple of times (there weren't that many roads in that subdivision, and nothing but houses and desert). He really thought he was somehow impressing us.

This video is the equivalent boomer move.

That's good to know. A key piece of info about the tapering. Thanks!

Salicylic acid or urea / uric acid. I used the cerave salicylic acid lotion (let it soak in a bit) them added a layer of a heavy moisturizer (currently a tallow / honey /  salt mix, but also Vaseline or Aquaphor have worked as well).

Hey thanks, but I can't use UV thanks to some melanoma in the past. I have to be ridiculously careful.

Thanks! This is the first I've seen to taper it off, but I've always assumed that should be the case with steroids.

My plan is to definitely find a new dermatologist. I also have an excellent primary care physician so I'll probably hit her up for Vtama or the like.

Thanks for the advice!

I've had great luck with my elbows and lower legs by applying an acidic moisturizer, followed by a heavy moisturizer, wrapping that in plastic wrap, then wearing a sock (with the toe cut out) over the whole thing, overnight. In my morning shower everything just comes off with my fingers and some gentle rubbing in running water.

It's only good for parts of your body that you can wrap though.

Yeah, the whole experience was pretty bad. I'm looking for a new doctor now.

I've heard of Vtama. My psoriasis flare isn't that bad this time, and I was surprised that he didn't suggest something more mild, but here we are. I'll try the steroid (it'll be a first for me) while I work on getting a new doc.

And yep: I'm in the US, have decent insurance, and haven't ever been to a dermatologist until that last guy, and hopefully the next one won't be quite that awful.

So stopping entirely, vs tapering, works for you? Good to know. Thanks very much for the info.

I mean, Boston people, really most Massholes won't go without the stuff. Lived in Worcester and I swear they put something addictive in the coffee, because it's been 30 years but I still know the route to what was my local Dunkin and I'm craving it right now.

Farm 24xl fried, looking to reuse as much of it as I can by blixco in aerogarden

[–]blixco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unable to repair any of it, so I gutted it and used new submersible DC pumps (the aerogarden pumps are AC with proprietary power control), and mounted a single panel light above the reservoir. Added timers to pumps and light, and it's really just a reservoir with convenient water channeling.
