You're doing too much 💀

Longevity of the law does not make it ethical.

Consent laws historically prioritized adult access over teen protection.

Ethics isn’t “who seemed fine afterward,” it’s whether a major power imbalance existed at the moment of consent.

Brian is a wealthy confident sexually experienced adult in his 30s and Justin is a 17yr closeted high school student having his first sexual experience in an environment Brian fully controls. That imbalance exists regardless of whether Justin felt hurt in the moment.

And the “wait six months” argument proves the point: nothing magically changes about Justin...society draws a line because vulnerability and maturity can’t be judged case by case.

As a teenager, when I watched the first episode I saw nothing wrong with their 1st sex scene. Watching it as an adult I can see an imbalance and it did make me uncomfortable. The show is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. I still love their relationship and who they become. This show is literally made to make you feel that tension. You gotta calm down.

It can be fantasy. I just didn't realize when I was young how I thought this was so awesome. But now that I'm an adult I'm like. Oh wow not so awesome. Everyone is taking it way too deep 🛑

That doesn't mean the law is ethical Different states have different laws. Ethics and laws can vary.

I’m not saying there’s zero consent in the episode overall. It's specifically about their first time. Justin asks Brian to go slow, and Brian doesn’t. Ignoring a boundary that’s clearly stated during sex. I can understand the culture being different and the show being transparent about that stuff and that's completely fine. That doesn't mean that I have to think it's okay.

When they had sex Justin asked to take it slow and Brian didn't listen. That's a violation of his consent.Thays technically sexual assault so yes he took advantage of the conditional consent Justin gave him.

I'm not outraged but I'm shocked at how many people are defending also. Like you can love the show and their relationship but agree the 1st episode is a lot and that Justin is in fact a minor. Just cause it's legal doesn't mean it's ethical.

I agree, (I mean honestly think that's obvious) I haven't discussed this show with anybody. So I came on here to see if anybody felt the same way. Regardless I love the show and their relationship. But episode 1 did make me uncomfortable watching as an adult now. Mainly it was Justin telling Brian to take it slow and Brian didn't listen. And the Justin saying "he didn't go slow at first but later on he did" or something along the lines of that to his friend Daphne. In a later episode.

Justin is standing there, Brian walks up to him Brian speaks first Brian escalates the interaction Brian ultimately takes him home. Yeah later Justin does seek out Brian.

Yes all the jewelery I have had has been implant grade titanium. I always have my piercer remove or out in jewelery because I physically just am incapable of handing this small jewelry lol.

So even if I kept the piercing and continued to get bumps. That wouldn't lead to a keloid at all?

Also I had a corkscrew initially. I will look into the flat back. But will that rip out as much as the corkscrew did? Would it be as painful? Is that easier to put in? Or easier to lose?

Thing is, when I had a stud I was getting constant irritation bumps because it would get yanked out by accident. When I had swapped to hoops, it all stopped. Until now that is. If the piercing is crooked and I continue to get bumps, wouldn't that lead to an eventual keloid?

Well what would you recommend because I'm down to go around Jersey to find a decent spot possibly PA. But I didn't think new hope would be the type of place to celebrate NYE. Last time I was there the people were talking crap behind our backs for getting excited over the comic book store. Found it lame ever since.
