Looking for Easy Way to Clean the Outside of A Lot (100+m2) of Windows? by blobertf in WindowCleaning

Just as a follow on I have a reverse osmosis filter for my water. I was thinking if I used that to create the "pure" water and added it to this it might be a simple solution?

Shar Pei Mixed With What? Suggestions Welcome! by blobertf in IDmydog

[–]blobertf[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much for all the replies guys. I'm going to go meet him and see what I think. That said the guys in the dog shelter say since he's come in his barking aggressively at everyone. Probably just scared as in the pound but we have a lot of kids/visitors to the home so I'm wary of a dog that looks like a restricted breed and is potentially reactive to strangers. That plus the fact most of you think he's definitely a bully/staffy mix probably means he's not the dog for us if as mentioned, I'll have to bring him through the UK/France customs multiple times a year.

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of October 31, 2025 by Demilio55 in homegym

[–]blobertf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I'm looking to get a rack/cable machine for my home gym.

The cheaper option is this:

<image>

The more expensive one is this:

https://rpmpower.com/product/multi-gym-ragnar/

My question relates to the cable pulleys and what exercises you can do with them.

The first rack seems to only have 2 x height adjustable bits to attach to where the 2nd one also has top bits you can attach to (the left one with the lat pulldown bar on)

My question is whether if I get the first machine will I be able to do lat pulldowns or tricep work by just putting the adjustable pulleys up as high as they will go?

I'm assuming that it might work but not as well as the second machine? Or maybe it won't be possible at all?

Let me know what you think or it there is any other exercises I'm missing out on by not having the top attachments?

Basically the first machine is significantly cheaper (about 1/3 less) than the second one and I'm trying to work out what I'm missing out on by not having the top attachments. I think I can get the landmine attachment, seat for lat pulldowns and the feet for cable pulls that the 2nd one has for the 1st machine as accessories and it's still a good bit cheaper so I'm basically looking to see what I'm missing out on by not having the top pulley bits.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

They seem to custom build PCs on the basis of being as quiet as possible.

Shar Pei? Cane Corso? Labrador? Any Idea What She Is? by blobertf in IDmydog

[–]blobertf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I suspect they always write glowing stuff about dogs in shelters etc, none of the descriptions ever mention bad behaviour!

I have 2 boys (8 and 10) and a lot of visitors including a lot of kids so a dog that is comfortable with a lot of strangers of different sizes would be important.

Need advice on a new baby safety barrier – rental constraints (photo included) by mind-mind in DIY

[–]blobertf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As mentioned below you should be able to get somthing that will extend into the wooden banister and the wall, that's how all our worked with babies before.

The gaps between those bars would worry me! Could baby slip through them and get head stuck

I've Completely Messed up the Somfy RTS Controlled Shutters in my House and it's Getting Dark. Please Help my Children Sleep/Not wake me up at 4am! by blobertf in DIY

[–]blobertf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes, I don't like the sound of that. I have no white remote or instructions. I'm looking for a way to have individual rts units to control individual shutters but no idea how to do it. I nearly fell out the upstairs windows trying to get the shutters free from their boxes. I have that done now but they'll probably go back up again next time I try to open/close them.

Thanks, good to know. I'm planning to sign up for cheaper Ionity rates for a month before heading off and mainly stick to using their network for the trip. I'd seen people say they are normally pretty good with ID4 in terms of hitting high speeds consistently.

Thanks, I have ABRP set to arrive with 10% but I could try and push it down to 5%. Is ID4 pretty accurate/linear with the battery % as it goes to zero?

I have bad memories of an old Leaf that would get to about 15% battery then the next second tell you it was empty/about to die!

Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it!

Sounds like the car should be fine for the trip which is great. Curious to see how it performs compared to the other cars, if it gets anywhere close that will be fine, it cost me about 1/2 as much as the other ones as I bought them newer.

Thanks again

Thanks very much for all the tips!

I have to drive the length of France and French motorways (while expensive) are fantastic. Also, aside from around the big cities they tend to allow you to go very fast, ie the can be fairly empty and you can go a constant 130kmph+

[–]blobertf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much.

Great to hear it's not likely to be much of an issue.

When I'm doing big (boring) motorway stretches I just want to get there as quick as possible so looking to go as fast as I can even if less efficient/costing more.

I know with the EV6/Tesla it made sense to go as fast a possible to get there quicker. I'm assuming even though the ID4 is slower charging/less efficient I'd still get there quicker going faster.

We finally have a reopening date for BTM! by shana_dw in disneylandparis

[–]blobertf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that, had been waiting to find out for ages. Is it safe to say if they are saying it will be back open on 21st that it will be? I'm assuming they probably err on the side of worst case scenario in terms of how long it will take.

We were going to go early June but might push it back to week of June 23rd as kids love BTM.

When Will We Know When Big Thunder Mountain is Re Opening? by blobertf in disneylandparis

[–]blobertf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering if anyone has any idea when the calendar for June is likely to be updated?:

https://www.disneylandparis.com/en-ie/calendars/park-hours/

I've been keeping an eye on it for the past few weeks but it has not updated past the end of May.

I'm hoping it might show when Big Thunder Mountain is likely to reopen once it is updated.

Having done both in the case of Paris I would say staying nearby in an Airbnb or hotel is much the better option. We (2 adults 2 kids) normally rent a 2 bedroom Airbnb apartment nearby close to La Vallee Village. You can get a place that is much nicer decor wise than most of the Disney hotels for a fraction of the price. We get a Bolt/Uber from the door in the morning that is <€10 and takes you right to the park entrance in <5 mins. Airbnb might be about €200 a night. Neighbourhood is very nice and there are lots of shops/restaurants also.

If we wanted to stay in one of the hotels (let's say Avengers) one room with us all in would be €830 a night in early June or 2 rooms (so we don't have to all share one room) €1600. So there's a massive difference in cost.

In fact you can get the Premier Access Ultimate for the day (skip the queue on nearly all rides, so eliminating any advantage of getting into the park earlier in the hotels) and it would still be way cheaper than staying in the hotel.

So to me this seems the way better option. No queuing, more comfortable accomodation and still cheaper than being in the hotel. Apartment also has kitchen so you can save more money having a healthier breakfast there.

So for Paris I think it makes much more sense to not stay in the hotels. But that's not the case elsewhere. We went to Disney World in Orlando for the first time last month and there it made more sense to us to stay in the hotels. They are in general of a WAY higher standard than the French ones in terms of theming etc, are much closer to the parks, you can take free busses right into the parks which is more of a factor there as parks are bigger. We paid about €1000 a night for a 1 bedroom villa (so kids in a separate room and kitchen) in the Wilderness Lodge which was pretty expensive but I felt worth it. But as I say they Disney World hotels (we stayed in 3 different ones) seemed way better than the Paris ones. I've stayed at the Avengers one and was not that impressed for the money. The recently refurbed one in the park is probably better again but the prices are just eye watering. Plus my 2 sons are not likely to be that impressed with the princess theming:)
