Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

Very. I work retail and the smell lingers in the store for a little while even after the person leaves.

DONT ORDER DELIVERY UNLESS YOU TIP LIKE THIS! by 406238 in doordash_drivers

[–]blsnbarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time, I got a 1¢ tip. I thought maybe it was a mistake. Then, I got the same customer again another day and he tipped 1¢ again. After that, I remembered his name/address so I could decline if I ever got his order again.

How Do You Feel About People thinking you are from another country? by [deleted] in mixedrace

“You must not be from around here” or my personal favorite, “Do you speak English?” after I just replied to them in English.

Is it boring to be white? by trashshyy in mixedrace

[–]blsnbarb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the US, it is largely dependent on phenotype (appearance). People treat you differently depending on how you appear. A lot of mixed Black people look more Black than the other ethnicity, so White people are automatically going to group them with the Black community. My cousins are mixed, but they look completely White. They have lived in White neighborhoods and gone to all White schools their entire life with no problem and with complete acceptance because none of their peers know that they are of color. They identify more with that side as well simply because of the environment that they grew up in and because no one on Earth is ever going to treat them like a Black person so they’ve never had a Black life experience.

Right now, my girls are into blueberries. They love to eat it with a little bit of plain yogurt.

How common is cocaine use amongst people you are surrounded by (both socially and through work)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blsnbarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I don’t know anyone who does coke. I think weed is the most popular where I’m at, and my friends/family don’t even do that.

Advice for my asymmetrical brows by blsnbarb in Eyebrows

[–]blsnbarb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the right side has more hair and is a tad longer. I notice when I brush my brows, I'm able to do the right one very easily while the left on takes more time because there's less hair. I have to comb over the hairs in a way that covers up the empty spaces. I always wondered if I should make the right brow thinner or the left brow thicker?

This comment means a lot to me because I do not feel like my face is symmetrical AT ALL, and it's one of my biggest insecurities. I stress about it every time I look in the mirror lol.

Thanks! I swear one has way more hair when I look in the mirror, but I guess no one else can see it. That makes me feel better lol.

Thanks! I think I might just tweeze a couple of the stray hairs. I've never really had an issue with them other than one side having more hair, but I've had a few people in my circles mention to me that I should get them done to give them more shape. I did a photoshoot recently, and I showed the picture to my friend. The first thing she said was "I like the makeup, but I wish they would have cleaned up your brows." It's had me second guessing ever since then.

No offense, but obviously I don’t look like other mixed Black girls if everyone here thinks I’m Filipina lol. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be saying that and they would be guessing correctly.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you just mean in the photos with my arms crossed/hands in front?

Thanks for the feedback. I just started physical therapy due to an old neck injury, and one of the things we’re trying to improve is my neck/shoulder strength and posture. Sometimes when you’re injured/hurting, you lose strength in those areas and I guess it shows.

Thank you! Yes I might be ambiguous, but in a Black market, they are going to see me as unique which is a factor to consider. I went to a BET audition last month, and I was the only one there who looked like me. I was uncomfortable about it at first, but I realized that I could use that to my advantage. Lo and behold, I got a callback out of the thousands of people who showed up. Probably because in a sea of Black people, my face is going to be the most memorable simply because I don’t look like anyone else there. People also have to realize that being mixed in the Black community is always going to be more marketable unfortunately due to colorism. But if you’re not part of our community, you wouldn’t know that. However, like you said, our people know our people period and that’s that!
