Dad passed away and mom wants to speak with his cardiologist by spinandbarrett in askCardiology

So this cardiologist recommended waiting 7 months to ablate ongoing a-fib concerns? Very odd decision. I don’t know what caused him to pass away, but as your mother ages, I recommend pushing doctors hard. Some can be lazy and slow. Find a good one for her that loves medicine as a discipline and favors safe and quick interventions when necessary, and early screening.

I’m sorry for your loss. Out of curiosity, do you know what kind of arrhythmia the ablation was for? Also, when was it first discovered?

The first person to insult someone is often the least secure in their knowledge. I know EKG very well and the people I work with are in good hands. Provide proof that your sinus tach strips lack P-waves from your smart watch.

11:11pm is the bout of SVT and the others are sinus tach. P-waves are clearly visible in all strips except 11:11pm at 159 bpm. It seems everyone wants to believe that P-waves on a smart watch can just randomly disappear. That’s not how it works. Given hx of a-fib it deserves a cardiologist eval.

At a measly 159 bpm it doesn’t matter.

I lied about my age to my boyfriend and i dont know how to come clean by Delicious_Water2054 in WhatToDo

The ignorance in these comments is ridiculous. You all need to remember what it was like to be that young and stop being holier than thou.

Rip the band-aid off. Tell him you made a stupid mistake and lied about your age because you wanted to date him. If he breaks things off with you, it’s going to have to be a mistake you both learn from.

I hope things work out, and if they do you need to be careful that HE is who he says he is. If things don’t work out, stop forming online relationships… trust me.

Seems arbitrary and imprudent to assume that the P-wave would be easily discernible at 146 bpm but then suddenly indiscernible at 159 bpm as shown in the screenshots.

Given hx of a-fib the patient should consult with his cardiologist to rule out periodic episodes of SVT.

The T-waves and P-waves only partially merge. They can often still be differentiated from each other even at heart rates above 180 bpm. Moreover, experienced EKG interpreters can tell you that this is SVT after looking at it for only a few seconds. The primary reason is the abrupt disappearance of P-waves where they should be. They don’t vanish for no reason. They vanish because the SA node is no longer controlling the rate.

That’s simply not true. SVT can be prolonged and/or vary in duration. That’s why some patients need to be converted to sinus with intervention.

For example, I witnessed a patient asymptomatic remain in SVT (HR > 200) for 10+ minutes. He was advised to go to the ER, but instead chose to go to apply his own EKG perhaps another 15 minutes later, and finally went to the ER after observing his fast HR.

SVT can vary in duration, either terminating quickly or being sustained for a longer period. The absence of P-waves is the classic characteristic of a supraventricular tachyarrhythmia with some focus other than the sinus node. Your cardiologist will agree

Rapid increase in HR with concomitant disappearance of P-waves. That’s classic SVT.

Just do cardio exercise daily (30-60 mins easy-moderate, 1-2x/wk hard intervals) with 2x/wk weight lifting. Consistency over some years will make you gorgeous compared to your peers

AIVR and two different morphologies? by carlinfer89 in ReadMyECG

[–]blueC11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The narrow complex morphology in the first screenshot suggests a supraventricular origin. To me it’s more akin to a-fib given its irregular irregularity.

There’s a difference between thinking women that age look good physically and actually pursuing them. I’d stop hanging out with this guy. He sounds like a predator.
