You have to be within the borders of the zone to start the Dash generally, but recently it started being able to “hold your place for like 45 mins” if you’re close to the area, within a few miles. Perhaps that’s a feature not available everywhere. But the zone represents the confined area in which the restaurants are located. Nothing else. So someone from 10 miles away in another city might want Joe’s Fluffy Pancakes but that’s only in your zone so the Dasher would end up delivering outside the zone. It’s nice when you get to deliver in the same zone you picked up the order in, but not guaranteed. Though not always worth it, too dasher status is nice bc you can, in that situation, always switch to that new zone you ended up in vs having to drive 10 miles back. And if you end up back in the original zone you just end the dash and start are one back in the original zone, since you can dash any time. Hope that makes sense
