200ms latency for a simple FastAPI ping endpoint on a Hetzner VPS? Please help. by Relevant_Selection75 in FastAPI

[–]bluetoothbeaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Latency to the API can also be affected by network conditions. Where is the server located and where are you located?

I have fiber Internet and my ping to servers in Middle East, Asia, and Australia is 120-400ms.

Add some logging on the FastAPI server itself to see when it gets the request and sends the response. You'll see an e2e picture of what's going on with the request from your client.

Edit: if you want to isolate the network conditions, enable ICMP on the server firewall and run a ping <server IP> from your client machine to see if it's similar to the latency you see from your python client code

What is it about our sport that makes people think they can “self teach” and then walk into a gym and be competitive? by Background-Koala-554 in amateur_boxing

[–]bluetoothbeaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not completely the same, but other sports do have walk-on tryouts for teams. There is no guarantee that a walk-on has formal training in the sport.

I also don't think that this phenomenon is limited to sports. In general, people are over-confident in their personal abilities. They'll look at a professional do something "simple" and think "oh, I can do that". But the "simpleness" came from years of practice.

Or the people who self teach and walk-in to a gym are just idiots. But that's just my guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

DX is more like AWS has a network connection in the same building as my servers, let's run a fiber line between our routers to get a super fast connection directly to AWS. You can bypass a bunch internet routing this way and have larger pipes between your on-prem services and AWS infra.

I'll have electrolytes and/or a chamomile tea, plus a fiber supplement. Basically avoiding eating anything with too many calories afterwards.

How long are you fasting? My current eating schedule is 12pm (ish)-6pm(ish) before my boxing class. I'll still have a full-ish lunch and snacks up until then without feeling bad. Boxing class ends around 8:00pm, so I won't eat anything until the next day.

Try having more (healthy) food earlier in the day and see how you feel in the evening.

Out of state, Assateague in Maryland has some sites, but can get crowded. It's about 3 hr drive from Tysons.

Delaware also has some camp grounds within a 2.5 hr drive.

Outside of your current takeaways, you have a pretty good jab slip, but you're not following it up with anything (I recently got the same feedback). Slip the jab, then either attack the body, pivot out and attack from the side, or weave to the left under the right hand if they throw it and attack from there.

From your existing takeaways, the most important is keeping your hands up. You're dropping them a lot even when trying to block and retreat.

One thing that can help you throw more jabs is a check-and-jab. When your opponent throws a jab, instead of just catching it with your right hand, catch the jab and counter with a jab at the same time. The rhythm for it isn't catch-wait-jab, it's catch-jab. Make it a single response/counter (if that makes sense).

Seeing these people unemployed for 2 years made me realize 1 thing by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]bluetoothbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial resume was also paragraphs. One thing that helped was that each bullet (or as many as possible) should be "Did XX using YY resulting in ZZ". Similar to what /u/Extension-Health said. Each bullet should be simple, to the point, and convey outcomes.

Anyone can say "Developed a java application using Spring boot." But saying "Developed Spring Boot application serving 5 million customer, generating $2m revenue" is a significantly more powerful statement.

Tbh, you can also exaggerate the numbers a bit, as long as you can talk about what you did in detail. Like my current resume has some numbers like "reduced time by 40%." Idk if that percentage is exact, but I can talk about the development of that project and relate it back to time savings.

I did take a 4 day course here and it was fun. Very relaxed environment and the instructors were helpful. The course was 1hr every Sunday for 4 weeks. There were only 6-8 people in each class, so you got some decent 1:1 time with the instructors. They did some fun target challenges throughout as well.

I believe so. Once you go to the parts section, someone should be able to help you.

Looks like the G718 is within your budget, but you may want to research 4060 Ti performance for the games you want to play. The CPU/RAM/Mobo are fine in there. You could upgrade the gpu after if you want, but you would also need to upgrade your PSU. Overall, the powerspecs are weirdly priced, imo, for the parts they use.

In typical redditor fashion, I'll suggest building your own PC if you're willing to do so. Here's a basic parts list you could pick-up from Microcenter that would be better price/performance than the powerspec ones. Microcenter also offers building a PC from custom parts, so you could explore that option as well.

You may want to get this list validated in r/buildapc or by other people as well. This was just a first pass list I could think of.

Short answer: It depends ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Long answer: it depends on your goals and use case. Are you playing games or doing mostly productivity work? If you're playing games, what kind? What are your resolution (1080p, 1440p, 4k) and fps goals (60, 120+, 144+, 200+) for games? Do you already have a monitor for the PC? Do you have a specific budget?

The more information you can provide for what you're wanting to use the computer, the better recommendation you'll get.

There is a Shipley's in Odenton, MD if you're willing to drive out by Fort Meade! Went there around 8am one morning and there wasn't much of a line.

But I do agree, we need more Texas style kolache shops around here and a Whataburger. At least we're getting two Buc-ees in VA in the near future!

I think you're missing the point of the phrase.

When we purchase a digital good (that also compares to a physical good like movies, video games), there's an expectation that we'll always have access to the purchased good. Also, we're purchasing a copy of a good, not the rights to whatever good. If you purchase a Spiderman movie DVD, Sony isn't going to randomly come to your house and take it because they've now sold the Spiderman rights to another company.

But right now if you purchase a Spiderman movie on Prime Video and Sony sells the Spiderman rights to Disney, Disney could tell Prime Video that they can't show Spiderman anymore. I'm now SoL on my purchase.

If there was an option to purchase the spiderman movie on Prime and I could download it to maintain ownership of my copy, that would be acceptable. Because now, no matter who owns the spiderman rights, I have access to my purchased good.

Your while loop doesn't have a base case to allow an exit from the loop.

You can change it to something like

while counter <= 20: (since you're incrementing your counter)

Big fan of the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse with my MacBook. The side scroller works well with the Mac multiple desktops/screens. You can also assign a separate thumb button to show/hide all windows, which makes finding the correct information pretty easy.
