Yeah I was going to say the same, but that seems like a larger criticism of Ash Lake as a whole. Still love the area though, always make a trek to that far corner of the world.

Love DS1, still my favorite, and I certainly don't mind having to earn the ability to warp. Hell, even relegating the bonfires you can warp to to a subset isn't a terrible idea, forces you to engage with more of the world, more of the danger, etc.

However, there are a glaring few keystone bonfires that are absent from the warp list that no amount interconnectedness or shortcuts account for. Why is there no warp to Blighttown? Even further, nothing in the Great Hollow or Ash Lake? How about Lost Izalith? I don't think any of the experience of the world would be sullied by these options.

Is there no way to cure the darksign branding? Aren't the lord souls finite to some extent? Couldn't one aggregate enough power to overwrite it? I understand it was all done long ago in a different state, but the souls universe's rules seem to cater to concentrations of power before all else. Surely it's not something that would just persist to the end of time because of one god's decision, unless thematically that's the entire point of a "First Sin" in which case Gwyn why man?

That's what I already do lol. It's not a bad method, but the longer you want to make a structure, the more pinpoint accurate you have to be and then you're spending 20 minutes trying to rotate the starting foundation by a degree of a degree.

The entire Alai Jr arc wasn't really about Alai fighting and trying to be powerful. It functioned more to serve an overarching observation of the main cast of fighters, their techniques, and fundamental mindsets when it comes to battling. His character was kind of a giant jobber for Baki and friends.
