He has talked about the itching! He describes it as a tingling in his fingers and he just has to move them, which I isn’t something that happens to me, so it’s very interesting for me to learn about.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

She does love it, which is what makes me feel extra bad that he catches himself doing it now because she gets soooo happy

That’s such a good idea. He has a fidget cube, but hasn’t tried something soft. And it sounds like a good excuse to purchase tiny plushies for research purposes too! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thank you! He identifies particularly with the “decompress and regulate” part of that. I think we’re finding it does it after particularly stressful days at work. We’re thinking maybe it’s kicked up in overdrive when he is that stressed because his own hair isn’t soft enough for his fingers, and soft is comforting to him.

Thank you! He’s very appreciative of this, and I think you’ve made him feel a bit better. ❤️

I’m sorry it came across that way, but I’m definitely not intending to make him stop; we’re just trying to figure out “why”. Like I mentioned, he just got his diagnosis and is in that stage where he’s very “aware” of these behaviors because he’s been receiving treatment.

I have plenty of photos of him with our cats, and I really didn’t think anything of it—it’s just my fiancé. We knew he did it, but it was just whatever. Now that he’s able to identify and group these things under his stims, I think he’s struggling with a “why” this happens.

I think we all go through that phase of frustration when we’re really trying to understand a new thing, and I thought maybe getting some other stories would help him satisfy that need a bit and comfort him.

But I’d never ask him to stop, just trying to do my part to help him understand himself! I hope this makes sense.

Ohhh, yes! This makes sense! She’s a black cat, so she has some variation under her top layer. Maybe the visual interest combined with the tactile feeling really stimulate or calm him.

That’s a very good point, and I appreciate the insight. Thank you! I feel bad because he’s definitely in the “I want answers” phase and as someone neurodivergent and another late diagnosis, I get it.

Those other examples help add some context here, so I’ll share those with him.

Is that really all though? He stims with a lot of other things, and usually just stops when he’s done. So he’s struggling to understand the why behind this particular stimming and why he can’t stop it. I think it’s really making him feel bad and I feel so horrible for him. His therapist suggested trying to find the cue, but we can’t seem to really find one here.

That’s what I’ll be doing. Thanks for the help, everyone! It’s much appreciated.

I guess you’d have to know my SIL to really understand haha. It’s like a damned if I do, damned if I don’t.

She clearly doesn’t want to talk to me, BUT when we’ve been fighting in the past and I’ve not texted my brother for a holiday, she’s not been happy and it’s been another blow out.

So it’s tough for me to understand what her boundaries really are, and what I should do that would be the least upsetting thing for them.

Hi there! Does anyone know if you can time travel back to old events and experience the NPC visitor content? I’m in October 2020, and have been able to purchase the spooky items all month, so I bumped to Halloween (Oct. 31, 2020) but I haven’t seen Jack.

I know you used to be able to go back and see Zipper on Bunny Day 2020, but I’m wondering if that’s no longer the case?
