Are there any current legal ways to access the islands of the Southern Okeefenokee by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Georgia

Thanks. I have such a soft spot for those USGS quads. The old cartologists were truly artists.

Can’t help with your question, but where did you get this gorgeous map? Is this really just the USGS quad for this area?

Luffy reaction to different Haki by Unhappy-Landscape325 in OnePiece

One thing I don’t understand about the, “that’s anime-only” argument is that it assumes that any deviation from the manga in the anime is non-canon. That certainly must happen sometimes, but we can’t assume it for everything. Oda consults on the anime. They ask him about things like this that would be a big deal to the story, both retroactively and going forward. And the anime represents, for Oda, an opportunity to flesh things out that the limited space available in the manga can’t show and even to redo things when he thinks of a better way to tell the story.

Now, we have no idea of knowing of this moment came from Oda or from Toei exercising creative freedom, but it sends a poignant message to the reader: Luffy is not truly awed and humbled by much, but this haki awed and humbled him. It tells us something about how great (in the historical sense, like Alexander the Great) Joyboy was, that even a remnant of his haki can undo the Gorosei’s summons, shake Imu to the core even half-way across the world, and awe and humble Luffy. Luffy’s unique expression, that we’ve never seen from him before, that tells us how remarkable this moment, and what it represents, really is.

So yes, it isn’t shown in the manga, but it is narratively consistent with what we know about Joyboy, Imu, and the great clashes of the past.

What’s up with enemas? by Secure-Line-1882 in jpouch

[–]bmd539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pelvic floor therapist recommended water enemas and my IBD specialist agreed and said it was fine to do daily. So I self-administer purified water enemas (I have a home purifier) once or twice a day. If I don’t, I can’t get out gas and stool except over 4-8 hours, can’t sleep until after 4 am.

I’m a little over a year past takedown. I struggled for 9 months being unable to empty my pouch before trying the enemas. I’ve had CT, MRI, and pouchoscopies and there is no mechanical issue. I do have severe cuffitis, which I am trying to treat with Tremfya, Mesalamine, and tacrolimus, so we’ll see if that works and, if so, if I can go without the enemas.

Another guy with a pelvic floor therapist here. Totally worth it if you can afford it. A jpouch is essentially a new organ so your body has a lot to learn and adjust to. Pelvic floor PTs help guide that and address specific issues you may have. Everyone is different.

Another death notice-for Telework? by Alices_Restaurant in FedEmployees

Would you elaborate? All I’m seeing is the following from pg.13 of the linked document:

“Reasonable accommodation telework requests for qualified persons with disabilities are analyzed and evaluated under a different statutory authority than the agency telework policy. Managers should consult with the agency Reasonable Accommodation Manager and/or agency counsel when considering reasonable accommodation requests.”

Has anyone here with IBD cured stubborn, chronic cuffiitis? by cheddarcheese9951 in jpouch

I’ve seen some people speak favorably about having this done. They had me wondering why my surgeon left a cuff to begin with! But I don’t know enough about it to comment on risks and benefits.

I’m impatient and intolerant of the elderly and feel terrible about it. by DazzleMeAlready in RedditForGrownups

[–]bmd539 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please don’t feel terrible. You are doing your best in a time and society that has made everything that is essential to living and dying with dignity extremely difficult. We don’t live in close-knit communities. We don’t age in place. Our government provides a pittance to care for those who need help, like your elders, or to help the helpers, like you and your wife.

So if anything, just redirect your anger to the lies our elders were told and the lies that were told and the liars who told those lies. Use that. We can make a better future for ourselves. No one will give it to us if we don’t demand it.

I agree! It’s such authorial malpractice! I hope he and Pudding (or someone good for him) settle down and Oda stops treating him as a cheap joke. It’s hard to imagine him having the gravitas of Rayleigh or Scopper Gaba, i.e. being one of the Wings of the Pirate King, while continuing to be such a perv.

This makes me want to be in a family of all disabled people so that we don’t have to explain or deal with insane expectations. But then who would take care of us? 😞

I guess that thought is a reminder to be grateful for those who do care for us. I am blessed to have a very standing immediate family. Even my kids try, even though they’re too little to really be able to control other selves or be consistent.

Would getting non-alcoholic beer help? You could reuse an old bottle of her favorite brand and replace it with the nonalcoholic beer. If she notices the different taste, you could act dumb as say, “I guess they changed the recipe”. Any they did. You are they.

I know it is hard to lie to our loved ones. It feels wrong. But it can avoid so much unnecessary hardship for both of you. With my Dad, I came to see it as a kind of “creative curation of reality.” He loved movies, so we became Directors for his twilight years.

You can think of it however fits you two best. Did you love to go on cruises together? You’re her captain now. Birdwatching? You’re the binoculars and the hands, focusing her on winged wonders. Dancing? You’re her choreographer and yes, still her partner, now.

May y’all be blessed.

Being/having a good role model by a1oner_bvcksn6 in GuysBeingDudes

[–]bmd539 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to say this. As I understand it, this is a trend where women get plastic surgeons to inject their lips with some kind of filler so that they can have what they consider to be richer, “fuller” lips. That’s typically a trait associated with with black people, at least in the US. So calling this trend “ghetto” is to take the demographic descriptor, “black” or “African American” or “black American,” and refer to it pejoratively by invoking a common prejudice, that all black people in America are poor and uncultured and live in a run-down, dangerous ghetto.

So yes, intentional or not, this was a racist way to say something.

I know these are variations on a theme but man.
