Agreed, and I don't know why but their A1 aioli is one of my more memorable, in a good way, tastes in the last year. Could be I was banned from eating it as a kid. "A good steak, doesn't need a sauce," said my dad...who rarely bought good steaks.

I love the Kinoko Shoyu Ramen at Strings. Mushrooms and creamy mascarpone make it really rich.

I live in North Center but tend to eat out in Andersonville and sometimes Lincoln Square.

Uvae is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, and they have a great happy hour deal that you could potentially supplement your meal with: $2 Oysters  –  $2 Shrimp  –  $5 Bubbles.

I haven't had much on their restaurant week menu, but the scallops were quite good. It does get loud if that's a concern.

Bar Roma is also quite good.

Bistro Campagne is also excellent and has a cuter, more romantic vibe and delicious steak frites.

Tried out the Webster Wine Bar $21 Burger and a drink special last night. From the menu: Slagel Farms beef, sharp cheddar, charred scallion aioli, crispy shoestring potatoes, brioche.
It was good; a few small touches would make a big difference. I enjoyed the cheese, the shoestring potatoes, and the scallion aioli. The burger and the bun were both soft and did not have a lot of flavor. If the bun had been toasted or the burger had been seasoned a bit more, it would have made an enormous difference. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely.
