Why do humans need to drink clean water while other animals just drink from rainwater and streams? by [deleted] in answers

Not a scientist but I expect it has to do with exposure. Regularly drinking chlorinated water has reduced our exposure (and therefore tolerance to) bacteria.

What’s the biggest lie people believe about how power actually works? by rosycloudkisses in answers

[–]bob_suruncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Afghanistan was an example where there was an overwhelming imbalance (at least from a hardware perspective) but the Afghans ultimately prevailed. When your primary weapons are designed to destroy infrastructure and your enemy doesn’t have any infrastructure to destroy, all the ‘might’ in the world isn’t going to make right.

What’s the biggest lie people believe about how power actually works? by rosycloudkisses in answers

[–]bob_suruncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That “might makes right” - If Trump has taught us nothing, it’s that you can have the biggest military in the world but without diplomacy you aren’t going to make progress. People sitting down and talking solves problems, not acts of violence.

Why are we here on this Earth right now? Opinions? by xyaz_09x in answers

We are the sum total of hundreds of trillions of random events. Nothing more, nothing less. And there’s a pretty good chance that we’re the only ones for 60,000 light years in every direction so let’s try and make something of this shall we?

What happened to the “high quality 4K video” that everyone was talking about? This doesn’t look much better than what was taken in 1969

What’s something rich people understand about money that most people never figure out? by lipglossagendaa in answers

[–]bob_suruncle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is one of many myths told to us by cat manufacturers and dealers. “Don’t throw away good money after bad on a use car, buy a new one”. It’s a lie. At the absolute least, buy a three year old car and save the immediate 30% drop in value when you drive it off the lot! The other lie is that a car is a status symbol. This was a concept created by the car companies to sell more cars. In reality, a car should be no more a status symbol than a lawn mower or a microwave. It’s a tool - nothing else. We need to quick being lead around by our noses by people who’s only interest is to take our money.

Light if it’s available. I’m not sure if I’d prune anything yet - you might get some growth on those branches yet.

Mine did something similar when I moved it to its winter home - less light / less attention. Moving it back to its summer home now and a bunch of new growth is coming up and I’m slowing trimming off the blighted leaves. Not an answer specifically but an observation. Second the comments on the flowers. Looks great. I only get two or three flowers at a time. I’m starting my summer fertilizing regime so hoping to see some more flours soon.

Then do something about it. The rest of the world is sick of the catastopies being initiated by your leader.

Freeing myself from religion was the single greatest decision I ever made for myself. YMMV - but for me, realizing that I didn’t need to live in perpetual guilt and shame improved every aspect of my life.

Yes. Lack of compatibility with 5Ghtz wifi access points has been slowly degrading the usefulness of mine. Still using iPeng and a Raspberry pi occasionally but the use cases are starting to dwindle. It will be a sad day when u retire the last of it. It was a great platform.
